Insurance problem with non standard spec tyres

My insurance is up for renewal as are my tyres and have 'just noticed'Wink my 255/55 R20 W 110 (presumably from an L405) are not standard size nor are they the correct speed rating and should be 255/50 R20 Y 109. ( arguably for a Vogue they should be 19's so even this may be an issue) I will inform my insurer now that I'm aware of this but anyone had a problem with this or a premium increase. I'm tempted to get a set of standard size tyres to be honest just to avoid the hassle. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

You can have standard wheels or any that were available as an option with the correct tyre size and rating, without having to inform your insurance company. So you can have the 20’s but will need to be right wheels and tyre size. 255/50/20…

Doing anything else is a mod and they will need to adjust for it.

Technically it's 2 mods as it's non standard size and speed rating. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Just looking on Pirelli's website and they don't list a Zero or Verde in 255/50 R20 or 255/55 R19 with a Y rating but they list a 255/55 R20 in Y.
Looks like you can have the correct speed rating with the wrong size or the right size but the wrong speed rating........ 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

I wasn’t looking for the best deal though… think Karik Fit might have a 10% code and Black Circles are cheaper….

As for rating. W are rated to 168mph…. Which would be pushing it some in a322. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Not with the required Y speed rating according to Pirelli although I see they are at some retailers.
Calling the insurer tomorrow to get their response. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Why rating is on the sticker in the door. I remember checking on my 405, as I have 1 W rated tyre for some reason, and either w or Y was ok according to the plate. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I suggest speaking to your insurer, I've done this twice and both times there weren't interested as long as I was using "wheels supplied by the car manufacturer" - their words not mine, presumably to protect them against issues with cheap copy alloys?
They had no interest in the tyre ratings
I believe that there are a lots of myths and misinformation circulated about tyres and insurance, my cynical view is that car and tyre manufactures have a vested interest in making everyone believe that your world will collapse around you if you don't spend loads of money on expensive tyres.
Logically I can't see why insurers would get their knickers in a twist about tyres but not other consumables? I've got EBC pads & disks on mine along with copper brakepipes, will my insurance kick up about this?.
I've only met 1 person who claimed that his insurance refused to pay out because he had the wrong tyres fitted, the bit that he missed out of his story was that the police did him for 2 baldy tyres and no MOT as a result of the same incident allegedly.
A set of tyres will cost you a few quid so why not get what you want rather than what you think your insurance want you to have?
