Stormin

I don't think so but perhaps someone has done the job and could help.

Stan

Apart from injured pride and nothing else personal I hope, was there any damage to the RR?

Cheers

Richard

Well had a go today, pressed the button, whoooosh but not lowering of tailgate. Had a feel for the release catches and while pressing the button i could feel the catches moving but still no lowering of tailgate. So I hit the tailgate with my hand while pressing button and it released. Squirted some wd40 in and tried a few times and it now works ok, will put some oil in, in the next couple of days. I think it was the right hand side one that was sticking.

Cheers Thumbs Up

I've had this start happening over the last few days in my MY12 Westie - press the tailgate button as the motors sound but doesn't unlock, press 4-5 times and the same, but then next press nothing at all. Start the engine press and motors sound again but only unlock about 25% time Sad

Last night I applied liberal quantities of WD40 to both latch sides, and after letting that soak in applied lithium white grease to the mechanisms - seemed to work reliably afterwards; will get proper test today with kid's sports runs...

/I thought my 2CV & TVR were my only cars to run on WD40 - JLR never cease to disappoint/

Push down on the two hidden catches to release the lower tailgate.

Hi there folks. Newbie here. The lower tailgate will not open on my Westminster. I am unable to depress the two latches. Any advise please? My Land Rovers, so far:

Hi, Welcome…

Other than squirting WD down the sides of the latches and trying to work them free, I’m out of ideas…. Suppose they are not actually in the down position already? But then I imagine you’d have difficulty shutting it, not opening… just thinking aloud….

Thanks for your reply.
The tailgate is up. I’ll give the latches a blast of WD40 and see how that goes.
Otherwise it’s away to my favourite Landie specialist.

Smile The combination of WD40 and a spurtle tapped with a rubber mallet did the job. My Land Rovers, so far:

Nice one. Think they get some of the crud as the tailgate gets dirty….
