Think I'm going too get it all done in one go so then i know its done as otherwise it will be do the arms that need replacing then in a year or two I'll have too do them or the ball joints again. Long term I intend too keep it as it does everything I need it too

Dan

It's the arches and the sills that's gone but i knew that was possibly going too cause an issue come mot time.

Craig

I'm pleased you spotted that as I certainly didn't see it. Pretty sure mine ain't a sport

May be worth checking with them that it’s valid sir… I don’t know much about MOT’s But I suspect it may need rectifying before a retest is done 👍

Would you trust any of the sites such as lr trade parts, island 4×4, British parts etc.

I've seen some of their stuff and it seems too come in pretty cheap. Almost too cheap for my liking

I bought lots from them for Fatty Offroader, they seemed to last OK... Thumbs Up Pete

I know the feeling regarding the MOT history of the car. When I got mine it’s had a perfect MOT history with very low mileage between tests. First test I took It for cost me nearly 3 grand in repairs

I spoke to the garage and they said they think the mot tester got the models confused and it will need rectifying if it was being retested within the retest period but as its not going too be done in that time, it dont really make any odds.

Pete

I've ordered all the parts now so hopefully they will turn up next week and I can get on with it all

Ouch what did you have too have done to warrant 3k. I asked these guys to check it over properly as its a new car for me so I'm not too fussed

Well here with a box of goodies that have turned up from island 4×4. Ordered Wednesday evening and delivered this morning.

Just need to get myself some tipex now so I can align the camber bolts in the same position they are currently in. Was going too start it today but given its lashing it down with rain I'll give that a pass.

Any one happen too know anything regarding the rules with the mots.

So once I've replaced the arms, I'm going to get the tracking done so its all aligned properly. Anyone know if this is something your allowed too do while the car currently doesn't have any mot as I guess it's technically being done under the repairs exclusion.

As far as I know, you can only legally drive a car without an MOT on the public highway directly to a pre booked MOT test.

If your wheel alignment can be done at the same place then just get them to do it before they re test. Bish.

Cheers mate.

I've done some searching around on the tinternet and whilst out on the bike today I had a chat with a copper. Long as its booked in to said garage to have the work done then the police are usually ok with it as long as its not dangerous and in a defective condition at the time I.e bald tyres so tomorrow I'll readjust the handbrake and then hopefully over a few days I'll get the front arms etc replaced

If you wanted to be absolutely sure you could get it through the MOT and then go to get the alignment done once it’s legal again as alignment won’t cause an MOT fail.

Hey Bean,

Sorry to read of this MOT failure.. what a bummer eh, and I guess these things always come up at the most in opportune times.

Have you any pictures of the rust? Is front or rear?
