could it be the coolant got to such a low point that when you re-filled it caused an air lock..

Don't know if you have the 4 zone climate but, if you do, it might be useful to know that the rear and front operate pretty independently so no heat in the cabin will be more than just a stuck heater valve or blocked heater matrix (the rear has a second heater unit located in the boot). In my case it turned out to be a stuck fuel burning heater valve. Either way, my other suggestion would be to drain then vacuum fill the coolant to eliminate the air lock possibility - the workshop manual wiki shows how. |

Yes I have the 4 zone climate, but having continued with my bleeding efforts (!) which involved a rag around local streets then repeatedly getting air out of the bleed screw, I managed to get more water in, build up pressure and have found a tiny pin hole leak in the hose that goes from the expansion bottle to I think the thermostat. I presume this is the root of my problem. Hopefully...

The bit about being charged an exorbitant amount of money for a couple of hoses DOES sound about right. Does this include labour charges to fit them?

My tip for expensive parts is to have a quick google for the part number. My faulty valve (mentioned above) was on indefinite backorder with Landrover but the genuine part was immediately available on e-bay at a fraction of the cost. |

When I replaced my alternator, (on my L322) I lost almost all the coolant and had a nightmare of a job to get the resultant airlock out.

When I replaced my coolant recently I was super impressed at the vacuum filling process. Very quick and easy with zero air locks. I got a cheap vacuum refill kit from Amazon and used a Pela oil hand pump to get the vacuum (because I don't have a compressor). Took approx 5 mins from start to finish. |

Thats a good idea John, think I will order one, as you're quite right, getting all the air out seems to be a real pig.
