United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 V8 Santorini Black

I'm going to be honest with you ffrr lover, I am going to do them myself thanks to the link from Dave. It does seem really easy to do, the hardest part is cooking the unit to soften the glue to get the lens off. It's not going to be for a few months yet as I'm not going to have the time and will wait until the weather gets warmer. I'm not going to get the single cob unit like BMW use, but the 36 smd led unit which I think will look much better suited. I'm also going to spray the internal light surround gloss black. Now, before I do that I'm thinking about buying a crappy 2nd hand light from eBay to play about with spraying and see if looks good on the car.
I don't really want to ruin my lights by diving straight in and doing it and then seeing it look awful on the car. As I said my mate had his rrs done and it does look very good indeed.

Testing on a 2nd hand set is a good idea.

I just reread my post it it reads more negatively than I intended. I’ll be interested to see how it turns out.

Good luck with the work, and keep us all posted Thumbs Up Currently driving: 2012 L322 SE Overfinch 4.4 tdv8

Well I've managed to get an excellent condition 2nd hand light unit from eBay for a bargain price of £50. So I'm going to use that to practice on and see what it looks like when I've sprayed the internal plastic gloss black and added the LED light rings. If it don't look right or looks awful, then it's only £50 down the drain and not ruined my own lights. All the paints and rings are ordered, so just need the time now to have a go.

Jump on all you like bean. I don't think anyone on here has done it yet, not that I've read anyway. But with the spare headlight I've bought I'm going to try it this weekend if I'm in the UK. I'm not going to glue the LED ring in place when I re-assemble it back together just in case it doesn't look right. I will post pictures up once it's done and fitted so we can all get an idea what it looks like. If it looks fantastic, then I will do both my headlights and will do a write up with pics.

England

You can get away with a normal hair dryer to soften the lense glue if your worried about the oven method. Glad your giving it ago it is pretty easy

Fair enough bean, I'll see what I can do the weekend should i be back.

Nicely pointed out there Dave, as I bought a heat gun the other day so will give that a go. I was going down the oven route but if the heat gun works, it will save me stripping down the whole of the light unit.

Bean here's a link to a powerful UK video spraying the surround black on a RRS headlight which is very similar to a l322 headlight. That should give you some idea.

No not this weekend ffrr lover, I'm parked up at routiers near Bordeaux en route to Toulouse all weekend, so no such luck. I shall see what next weekend brings unless I get shipped to Hamburg. That's the trouble with my job, I never know where I'm going from one day to the next. Though all the led lights, spray paint and other stuff I've ordered have all arrived, so I'm ready to tackle it as soon as I can.

But on the plus side, me plus 5 other British drivers and 3 Dutch drivers had a heavy night last night Laughing

While I’m sure you are itching to get cracking with the lights… a good night drinking a Censored of booze is a fair alternative Rolling with laughter

Well ffrrlover that went down well, Total failure. Managed to strip down the light unit and was masking up the chrome before spraying. Removed some masking tape as wasn't on straight and the tape took off the chrome paint. So didn't bother continuing as it will do it to all the chrome and would look bloody awful. So that project is shelved. I'm just going to leave it as it is. But on the plus side I've only ruined a crappy £50 2nd hand light unit i bought off eBay and not ruined my own lights.
So beware anyone who strip down their headlights, keep sticky stuff well away from the chrome surrounds.

How easy was splitting the light unit?

Powerful have started selling new lenses for the 2007-2009 era L322 and I'm tempted to get a pair but don't want to destroy the light unit when opening them.
