Testing on a 2nd hand set is a good idea.

Well I've managed to get an excellent condition 2nd hand light unit from eBay for a bargain price of £50. So I'm going to use that to practice on and see what it looks like when I've sprayed the internal plastic gloss black and added the LED light rings. If it don't look right or looks awful, then it's only £50 down the drain and not ruined my own lights. All the paints and rings are ordered, so just need the time now to have a go. |

Jump on all you like bean. I don't think anyone on here has done it yet, not that I've read anyway. But with the spare headlight I've bought I'm going to try it this weekend if I'm in the UK. I'm not going to glue the LED ring in place when I re-assemble it back together just in case it doesn't look right. I will post pictures up once it's done and fitted so we can all get an idea what it looks like. If it looks fantastic, then I will do both my headlights and will do a write up with pics. |

You can get away with a normal hair dryer to soften the lense glue if your worried about the oven method. Glad your giving it ago it is pretty easy |

Bean here's a link to a powerful UK video spraying the surround black on a RRS headlight which is very similar to a l322 headlight. That should give you some idea.

No not this weekend ffrr lover, I'm parked up at routiers near Bordeaux en route to Toulouse all weekend, so no such luck. I shall see what next weekend brings unless I get shipped to Hamburg. That's the trouble with my job, I never know where I'm going from one day to the next. Though all the led lights, spray paint and other stuff I've ordered have all arrived, so I'm ready to tackle it as soon as I can.

While I’m sure you are itching to get cracking with the lights… a good night drinking a of booze is a fair alternative

Well ffrrlover that went down well, Total failure. Managed to strip down the light unit and was masking up the chrome before spraying. Removed some masking tape as wasn't on straight and the tape took off the chrome paint. So didn't bother continuing as it will do it to all the chrome and would look bloody awful. So that project is shelved. I'm just going to leave it as it is. But on the plus side I've only ruined a crappy £50 2nd hand light unit i bought off eBay and not ruined my own lights.
