Tbh mate. That don't look the worst I've ever seen. If your handy with a welder then I'd fix it up yourself. Either way your still quids in at present so think I'd be inclined too get it sorted. Mediocre 4.2s are generally selling around the £5k market. Surface rust ain't that much of a problem as long as you get too it early enough.

Quick positive update guys...

Today I managed to get the car back driving well... :party!

* Brakes are fixed
* Air suspension back working good, can raise/lower etc..

The above has been fixed for about €175 which is pretty good. Chuffed to have fixed this up.

I also topped up the coolant, it was very low. As a result, car no longer getting to high temp and the cabin is heating up again

Next big issue to solve is a damn squeaky belt/pulleys, passenger door and sill rust on the O/S.

Good evening all.

Just a quick update again.

This evening I pressured up the cooling system and found my leak. It is a perished O ring in one of the pipes going to the thermostat housing... very easy to access and blessed with that! Will replace tomorrow.

I'm also potentially dealing with a parasitic battery drain at the moment.

In the morning, I am going to hook up a meter in series with the battery terminal and see what kind of draw there is.

Here is the plan for troubleshooting that:
* Turn off car, remove key.
* Hook up meter in ammeter mode inline with battery cable.
* Wait a while, like 10 minutes to let the car shut itself off.
* Check current draw versus baseline "Idle" draw (Anybody know what that would be?)
* If it's high, start pulling fuses, one by one to see what circuit is causing issue.

I know the FSR is a common cause, but I really do try and have some data on a problem before buying a part.. I'm cheap like that

I have a totally itchy feeling that I might be driving around in a supercharged L322 this weekend... a rough one, but all the same

Great project thanks for sharing. back to your original question (what it is worth), I think we all go through this process to save them and enjoy them ourselves.

I know that what we spend on them will not raise their value anywhere close to what we spend, even if you only spend 2K for it originally. That said we do make them safer - and more enjoyable.

Indeed, we save them because we love them and we want some of them to survive down the line.

Now in 10/15 years L322 will be 'classics' so maybe there will be a 'market' - or not at all, since youngsters will not care about cars to start with LOL
