All looks mickey mouse to me from the site to the information txt " better results with a map as our unit just increases fuel pressure and the amount of time the injector stays open " this cannot improve fuel consumtion in anyway. Far to many gone... |

It's all very well fooling the rail pressure, but what about the injection maps, drivers wish maps, turbo pressure maps, torque limiter maps, pressure maps, turbo pressure by Patm maps etc. etc.??

All I can say is that the car is much improved to drive; improved pick up, smoother / stronger acceleration and fuel consumption has improved (proven with tank fill calculation). If I switch the box off the difference is immediatley noticable.

Comports, I don't now all the facts, people on this forum know I heavily favour a remap rather than a plug in box. Companies such as JE Engineering have been tweaking Range Rover engines since the 1970's and have consulted Land Rover along the way too. In my mind they have the greatest experience in the field and therefore the most comfort factor for me. When I had my TD6 remapped by them I asked similar questions about risk of parts failures etc. Basically (and you should call them and speak to John at JE to get the full version - crackingly enthusiastic chap) they only alter the engines parameters within the capabilities of the entire car. They wouldn't be in business very long if they created a remap that blew transfer boxes and drive shafts all the time. Commensurately, when my TDV8 ran out of warranty, despite being an excellent car already, I decided to take it to them again, and once again they have transformed the car, and I know that the rest of the car can cope with it. As said before by someone else, the plug in boxes simply fool the engine, its not a clever solution. A box will be about £250 and a proper remap from JE is £100 more. Hope that helps. here's some reading material: TDV8 Remap http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic4809.html TD6 Remap http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic33.html?highlight=td6+remap TD6 PSI Box road Test http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic34.html?highlight=td6+remap TD6 remap discussion on Jeremy Fearn http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic5625.html?highlight=td6+remap Discovery 4 HSE 1998 110 TUM HS FFR Hard Top XD WOLF 1982 Series 3 Hard Top *Gone:L462 D5 HSE LUX, L663 Defender 110 HSE, Discovery 3 HSE, 2014MY Range Rover Sport 5.0 Supercharged AB Dynamic; L405 Exec Vogue SE 4.4, 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography, Defender TDCi XS CSW, Defender TD5 HT, Vogue SE TDV8, Vogue TD6, RRSport SC 4.2V8, Classic 3.9 Vogue Auto, Land Rover Series 3 SWB |

3) Live Remap - When I have had upgrades / remaps done to my vehicles (be it cars or bikes) I have always opted for companies that at least ratify the works on a Dyno, ideally tweaking the map live on the rolling road so that it works as well as it can for the individual engine being mapped (be that new ECU or traditional Carbs & jets).

considered it, but dismissed on the grounds that a standard JE Map has been tested on a lot of vehicles wheras a one off, even from a very reputable company has had its parimeters changed and could be more risky. Worth the risk on a 500 quid subaru but not a £60K RR |
