We have a similar sound on a 4.4 diesel. It is a belt going over a small pulley wheel - only happens on startup then goes.

Totally agree with what’s been said, I had a squeaky noise and a rumbling at 45k. It turned out the bearings were shot on an idler pulley. Had the whole lot replaced with Land Rover parts and the squeak has now returned on startup and then it goes. I think it’s just one of those things on some cars. Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8 |

As has been said above, sounds like a belt tensioner or idler. Kev

Thank you all three of you for your comments, very much appreciated. All the issues experienced sound identical. As you say, it does go after a short while, so I won't worry about it.

I'd get it changed either way mate. If the tensioner goes, you'll soon know about it when everything else gives up under the engine bay |

Mine does it as well. I think the colder weather makes the belt stiffer hence the noise. |
