Oh, and I'm going 255 55 20 so get a bit more sidewall height. Spare will fit into well albeit at a lower psi and some wiggle. It won't fit (IIRC) if you have the spare wheel "helper" but that can be removed quite easily. I carry a small 12V pump all the time to pump up. Also, if you have the original scissor jack for tyre changes it's nicknamed "The Widow Maker" for a reason Total pile of Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

For green lanes the grabber will definitely be better than any road or all season tyre but you don't need to be driving like you stole it to benefit from wet braking ability in an emergency stop. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322) |

Must say if I'd read this I wouldn't have touched the AT3s, however I've now done well over 50K miles on 2 sets of these, 1 set of 255/55s and 1 set of 275/45s and my experience of them is almost the opposite of the review. I appreciate that it isn't scientific but in all my miles with them I've never had a scary moment or ABS activation (except in ice & snow). Looking at the posts on here from people who have fitted them, with the exception of 1 (who seems to disagree with everything) everyone seems to be very impressed with them. I'm going to pretend I never saw that review and buy another set shortly, I've just got to decide what size! |

On my old Audi A6 Allroad I ran Eagle F1's for 85k+ miles (not the same set ) and never had an ABS moment but then again I never had to slam on the brakes in an proper emergency so I could well have saved a lot of money going with budget tyres

I’ve run AT3’s on my Discovery 2 for the last 3+ years. Found them to be great in all weather conditions and at home on the motorway or on shoot/farm tracks. |

I got the AT for my winter wheels based around so much good feedback on here. I must admit that I find them pretty bad on the Range Rover when driving on the road. That test is totally aligned with my experience. And whilst they may have been the quietest compared to the others in that group they are so loud compared to Pirelli scorpion all season with noise control. Sadly my normal 22” wheels are being refurbished so I drove on these to the continent. It was loud, uncomfortable and not as stable.

It is isn't it. But interesting to see that a panel of independent motorjournalists notice the same things in tests. I just feel like I should have listen to logic which is that an AT pattern just cannot possibly compete on road with a normal tyres. |

Has the alignment been checked? If the alignment is out then an AT will generate a lot more noise than an HT. |

I tend to ignore personal user reviews of tyres unless they are just concerned with things like noise or wear rate. Unless you are doing emergency stops or cornering to the limits of grip most of us are driving well within the safe limits of even the cheapest tyres. Tyres matter when the difference in stopping distance in the wet is the difference quite literally between life and death and these parameters can only come from independent tyre tests in controlled conditions. Just as it's impossible for an all seasons tyres to perform as well in each season as dedicated winter and summer tyres it's also impossible for an 'all terrain' tyre to perform as well on the road as a dedicated road tyre. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322) |
