I could never knowing buy something that is fake and wear it. I value myself too much for that. Besides I also ready don’t want to contribute to organised crime.

There really is something nice about a good piece of jewellery. And indeed the craftsmanship that has gone into making it. Personally I also like the feel and weight of precious metals.

I totally get it why anyone would want to treat them self. No problem at all with that.

At the tender age of twelve, in a tiny bedroom converted from a cupboard in my parents house, I had a wall full of images of a particular car, a catalogue of Canon camera gear in a drawer, and Rolex brochure under my pillow.

Yes, it was good to dream.

At the age of twenty-five I bought my first Oyster. A second-hand 16233 which was purchased on credit. Within a year, I bought my first new Oyster, which (unfortunately?) was part of a pair, because I had to get one for my other half too! Once again, the credit companies rubbed their hands. Neutral

A couple of decades later, I traded-in the watches for slightly more modern replacements (116233). No credit needed that time! All in all, I've worn a Rolex non-stop, day and night for thirty years. It is showered daily, has been wild swimming in lochs, rivers and the N.Sea! It has only ever come off my wrist for one thing..... It (very) rarely comes off my wrist these days at all. Laughing

If anyone asks, I tell them it's a fake (in the style of the night bank manager in the Da Vinci Code). I've never once thought about the prospect of being mugged, not have I ever felt the need to cover it up. It still gives me a wry smile every day. Thumbs Up The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom Smile

I’m not going to Google that but it looks like a Panterra.

I had the hots for the Matra Simca Bagheera. Like a Lambo but French, how could that possibly work? Whistle Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

The thing about expensive watches is not about telling the time. It is a personal statement and you are saying to the world "look at me, I am a man who can afford a £10,000 watch". I owned a Breitling Aviator for a while. It was a beautiful watch, light and elegant, but all it could do was tell the time, and if I am going to wear a device on my wrist, it needs to do more than that. I have since had a Casio Protrek Titanium which has radio updating, is always accurate to the second, and has other useful facilities. Later versions have even more functions including GPS.I also have an Apple Watch but find this to be my least useful Apple accessory. The notifications are too small to read without my glasses, it needs to be charged every night, and is only really of much use as a fitness tracker.
So that is my take on watches. Save your money instead for the inevitable repair bills on your Full Fat. 2011 Vogue TDV8 4.4
