Loads of questionable decisions without a doubt but something like this should have been dealt with like they do in the btcc.

Extend the race by say 3 laps and the grid stays as it is then it would have been a fair shout.

Lewis would of had the advantage given no traffic but used tyres where as max would have had work too do but had 5 cars in front but a fresh set of tyres.

For me I don't agree with the last minute let a few of the lapped drivers through but not all off them oh and BTW its the last lap.

If rules are made why ain't the governing body following them. How many of you guys would be hacked off in your jobs if your governing body couldn't stick to the rules.

Happens all the time in my line of business. Too often they won’t even state the rules, just state whether you are compliant or not. No reasons give.

The better man didn’t win today. The issue I have is Mercedes made a strategic decision based on the rules….if every lapped car had to overtake then it wouldn't have happened in time so the race would have finished behind the safety car. If they didn’t do that (which usually happens when it rains) then !ax would have had to lap 5 cars before trying to pass Lewis.

So based on the rules it was the right decision by Mercedes, but the rules were broken and Max was given a gift.

Also, I bet Max and Red Bull wouldn’t have been anywhere near as gracious as Lewis was if the result had gone the other way.

I’ve been a big Max fan since day one, but in the last few months his behaviour has been really disappointing. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

Got to agree with you here, we cant have race results dictated by race control, neither driver controlled the outcome here. Range Rover 4.2 Supercharged 2006

It’s a team sport. The team making the right decisions won here. Together with a bit of luck through events of a crash of someone else. But hey that is all part of it.

Merc could have pitted under both the VSC and full SC

They chose not to, RB had to go aggressive. That choice paid off in the end Thumbs Up

Even George Russel said its unacceptable. I think since Charlie gave it up masi this year whilst he has shaken things up and kept it entertaining sometimes for Lewis and sometimes for Max, masi has been way too inconsistent with flexing the rules.

Look at Saudi when he gave redbull the option of dropping back a spot or taking a penalty.

I agree with the "let them Race" call

But
LH had a 12 sec lead and had lost time getting past the 4 battlers, Race control should have just left them 4 in their places then resumed the race.
Now that would be interesting lol 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue

I agree on strategy redbull won but when they basically got given a clear track that was unfair. Should have extended the race by a few laps and let them race that way.

What would have happened if the 5 lapped cars stayed in position and it was a one lap race then as that would have been another fair way of doing it

If Mercedes’ had put in some newer rubber their much faster car would have easily won this. They had a choice, they made it, and it didn’t pay off. It was still not easy for Max to overtake Lewis.

But yes, if there wasn’t an SC situation the outcome would have likely be very different. But that is racing. It is not over until it’s over.

That is true but no one was expecting the sc and the back markers told too go past. They said at the start of the lap lapped cars are not too over take then changed their minds mid lap.

I think these actions have damaged the reputation of formula 1 with the inconsistencies being shown all year. I've always enjoyed it but this year the FIA need too have a look back at their decisions.

I agree with nicki Lauda's comment of "let them race" as long as its fair, not clear 5 cars then let them race. Lh had too work to overtake the back markers so why should Mv get a free ride through it. I'd still be raising this point even if the tables was turned and Mv done all the work like Lh did.

Just finished watching for the third time, its a travesty a world champion decided by stupid decisions by race control, not acceptable.

It really shakes my confidence in the FIA

I wonder if I will watch next year.......
