Hi Gaz, how did he do it? ECU off and split or via OBD?

"Ecu has to come off...no other way.....the ecu has the 'read' funtion disabled by Bosch at the factory.

It is a 45 minute job......lid has to come off ecu.....but I have a source of new lids so no trace left of it being opened Smile "

So now we know Thumbs Up

No problem with what you have said Gaz but do you have a supply of stickers that are on the ECU as these get damaged when splitting them.

In order to split you have to heat the glue that holds the ECU together and that damages the LR stickers etc.

I think splitting an ECU on a £68k+ car is somewhat dangerous as if LR find out and by looking/driving they will, the warrantey is/could be voided and I for one dont want this so I will wait until the tool manufacturers sort out re-mapping via OBD and offering a switchable version same as the previous versions Thumbs Up "UNDERSTEER" ----is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" ------is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" ----is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" -----------is how far you take the fence with you.

I thought the 4.4 TDV8 had a bolted ( 1 way ) bolt that is one use only , the people i know have managed to source the bolts in Germany. So do we have two differing ECU's ?

Chip that goes in line on the fuel rail control wiring etc , all that does is increase fueling and boost and have seen a lot of cars that over boost when these are used including one i tried on a BMW 3.0 DI , it went in the bin i am afraid. They also do not limit the torque to the gearbox that has set limiters for a reason. Far to many gone...

Sorry to disagree with you Gaz but the stickers are on the lid of the ECU which is the bit you are taking off and not on the body Thumbs Up

This means when you heat the lid up it damages the stickers - granted not every time but on most it does. "UNDERSTEER" ----is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" ------is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" ----is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" -----------is how far you take the fence with you.

The bolts are not holding the ECU together they just stop you taking it off the vehicle or are supposed to stop you but they are readily available from LR Exclamation Exclamation "UNDERSTEER" ----is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.

No issues with checksum....uses same ecu as 3.0 Disco4/RRSport 3.0/Jaguar 3.0 TDV6

As I understood it, the reason that you couldn't reflash via OBD is because no-one had the correct checksum algorithm to make it work - if they did, they wouldn't need to split the ECU.

I read that the issue with tuning via OBD was not knowing the checksum algorithm. It's not ChippedUK (sorry, Viezu) is it? Shocked

A few places are listing tunes for the 4.4 now, with widely different torque and BHP figures.

Hi.
Is there something I should know about Viezu?

I was looking into getting the 4.4 TDV8 re-mapped by them.

Thanks

Andy Brown

Google is you're friend....

Nothing to do with the checksum. It's all down to Tricore processors and cannot be flashed via. OBD. Used to have:
2005 FFRR 4.4 Vogue - BRC LPG Conversion & Remapped

Now have:
2008 SSRR 3.6 TDV8 - HSE and plenty of toys

They're protected by RSA signature, end result is the same.

Yes indeed. But one way you have to put the ECU into boot mode and flash that way, the other way is via. OBD. Two distinctly different ways of tuning. The end result is the same yes, the car is tuned. Tricore (Majority of) can not be tuned via. OBD.... yet.

Especially on a £70k motor when ECU removal can be spotted relatively easily if LR want to. Used to have:
2005 FFRR 4.4 Vogue - BRC LPG Conversion & Remapped

Now have:
2008 SSRR 3.6 TDV8 - HSE and plenty of toys
