I thought the 4.4 TDV8 had a bolted ( 1 way ) bolt that is one use only , the people i know have managed to source the bolts in Germany. So do we have two differing ECU's ?

"No 'splitting stickers' as you suggest....as the stickers are on the front of the ecu...." |

Sorry to disagree with you Gaz but the stickers are on the lid of the ECU which is the bit you are taking off and not on the body This means when you heat the lid up it damages the stickers - granted not every time but on most it does. "UNDERSTEER" ----is when you hit the fence with the front of the car. "OVERSTEER" ------is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car. "HORSEPOWER" ----is how fast you hit the fence. "TORQUE" -----------is how far you take the fence with you. |

The bolts are not holding the ECU together they just stop you taking it off the vehicle or are supposed to stop you but they are readily available from LR "UNDERSTEER" ----is when you hit the fence with the front of the car. "OVERSTEER" ------is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car. "HORSEPOWER" ----is how fast you hit the fence. "TORQUE" -----------is how far you take the fence with you. |

As I understood it, the reason that you couldn't reflash via OBD is because no-one had the correct checksum algorithm to make it work - if they did, they wouldn't need to split the ECU. |

Hi. Is there something I should know about Viezu? I was looking into getting the 4.4 TDV8 re-mapped by them. Thanks Andy Brown |

Google is you're friend.... Nothing to do with the checksum. It's all down to Tricore processors and cannot be flashed via. OBD. Used to have: 2005 FFRR 4.4 Vogue - BRC LPG Conversion & Remapped Now have: 2008 SSRR 3.6 TDV8 - HSE and plenty of toys |

They're protected by RSA signature, end result is the same. |

Yes indeed. But one way you have to put the ECU into boot mode and flash that way, the other way is via. OBD. Two distinctly different ways of tuning. The end result is the same yes, the car is tuned. Tricore (Majority of) can not be tuned via. OBD.... yet. Especially on a £70k motor when ECU removal can be spotted relatively easily if LR want to. Used to have: 2005 FFRR 4.4 Vogue - BRC LPG Conversion & Remapped Now have: 2008 SSRR 3.6 TDV8 - HSE and plenty of toys |
