When you've taken your car to a dealer to have them diagnose a problem for the "umpteenth" time and every time they charge you £200 for the privilege of their "expertise" you will see that the "cover" you get from them is actually very poor. Compare this with an independent who charges 30-50ph, works on the cars every day AND has to rely on satisfied customers AND repeat business (two areas where a LR dealer doesn't give a damn) I know from experience which I am more likely to get a better solution with. My car and its previous owner is a perfect example. 3 or 4 trips to a main dealer to get a knocking noise located and sorted. After replacing various components they still hadn't fixed it. My indy spotted the worn anti-roll bar links, and changed them over for under £50 inc parts and labour. A decent indy will have the same computer LR garages use so will be able to do exactly the same work. After all - do not forget that your local Land Rover Dealer is NOT Land Rover. They are a private company who have a deal with LR UK to sell their cars, nothing more. |
