Are the new cv boots of the harder plastic type, as opposed to the soft rubber type. I had a problem getting the harder plasticky one to stay put in my car. I believe positioning of the clip is the key, and clean surfaces for a good grip.. .

Garage fitted them, they did seem quite stiff and guy doing it said how hard they were to locate/fit. They have it now to resolve hopefully. Are the different types from different suppliers? 2009 Range Rover Vogue 3.6TDV8, Bournville, Parchment/Navy

Manufacturers seem to have switched to the hard plastic ones. My original problem was with my Volvo V70, but just ordered a new boot for my wife's Audi TT and that too is the hard plastic type. .

Yes this appears the case and what garage has said. You would think garages would feedback these issues so they can be resolved. Think my garage is fed up with them! 2009 Range Rover Vogue 3.6TDV8, Bournville, Parchment/Navy

Update, the New CV boots (GKN) just won’t stay on, came off again after short test drive. The material is just to stiff according to mechanic. Garage has fitted brand new Flexi Boots which are a much softer rubber. Only got home tonight so pitch black but will check them out tomorrow. Hopefully these will stay on. 2009 Range Rover Vogue 3.6TDV8, Bournville, Parchment/Navy
