Anyone ever investigated an upgrade to the sidelights?

These pinpoints of light are pretty pathetic in today’s world.

+1 for this question. My Christmas lights are brighter than my sidelights. Looking for recommendations for replacements.

yes these fairy lights are pants...i tried upgrading them but my upgrade wasnt very successful,







seriously though, you could use heat to prise the front lens off , buy some led rings, fit and wire up but this is a complicated and time consuming process..
i have seen company's on ebay doing this but its expensive..

personally i would convert the fogs into drls....i did this on all my previous FF's and its not that dificult.. ... - .- -.

I am more impressed by your idea of adapting the two lower spotlamps as daylight driving lights.

few ways of doing this Mike....simplest way is to replace the halogen bulb with a led bulb and cut the fog wiring and connect to a drl switch..

another method is to replace the OE bulb and housing with a drl light [ebay] and drl switch..

all mods require a bit of wire cutting and possible fog housing fettling..

If you upgrade to DRL you should really wire them through a normally closed relay so that when the headlamps are on the DRL lights knock off.

This works in the opposite to a normal relay that switches the circuit on when power is applied. 2012 tdv8 Westminster arrived Jan 19 gone Dec 23

Thanks V8 Bob, but I don't want to upgrade to DRLs. I just want to try to seek recommendations for replacing the poor, yellow
sidelight bulbs with bulbs that are more in keeping (brightness-wise) with the rest of the front lights.

Your car has a different side light setup to the one in the original post. The bulbs in yours are easily changeable and can be swapped to LED's very easily. I did mine a few months ago.

Seeing as my lights are always on Auto the sidelights never do much anyway so it was more to get rid of the yellow looking light that made me change mine.
