Cannot pair fob for Timed Climate Control

I have a 2011 5l s/c. The timed climate control is working when set up from the dash but I can't seem to manually start it using my fob. I tried re-pairing the fob by pulling the 5 amp fuse from slot 16 in the fuse box on the right at the rear, replacing it and pressing the OFF button on the fob within 5 seconds for at least 1 second, but I still only get a flashing red light on the fob. I have also changed the battery on the fob.

What I have also noticed is that on the time climate control screen on the dash both "Manual Heat" and "Manual Vent" are greyed out. I wonder if this is because no remote fob has been paired.

Any help to get the TCC working before the weather gets worse would be appreciated.

It's a long time since I did it but I remember when I tried pairing the fob on my Td6 I had to unplug the power lead to the unit. Pulling the fuse didn't work but removing the power did for some reason.

Worth a try anyway. John

I'd go with Weegie on the fob paring.

The screen greyed out is likely due to you having the "ignition" on. Open up the car and turn on the audio with the button in the centre of the volume (left hand) knob. Go to the home screen, select timed climate and the manual touch buttons should appear.

Battery voltage is king for the FBH to operate correctly.

Is that fob definately the correct one? I got one for mine the same as yours but wouldn’t pair, got a different type off someone on here and that paired first time! Maybe worth a search…

Many thanks for the suggestions.

Rjff - you are quite right. When I accessed the climate control screen without the ignition on, the two touch buttons were not greyed out.

Weegie - which unit did you unplug the power lead from?

Thanks again.

The fob is either a T91 or T91R, my FFRR didn't come with a fob so I bought one off fleabay only to find it didn't work.
Mine was like yours ON/OFF on the fob, the one that worked for mine ['12 plate] was ON/heat symbol.......that's possibly the reason yours doesn't work......emphasis on the word 'possibly'.
Hope this helps. 2012 Orkney Grey Westminster 4.4TDV8 with Ivory interior.........nice!

It is the power feed to the receiver. Just unplugs and is pretty obvious when you look at it. Certainly in the earlier models. It is just a little awkward to get to as it is tucked in behind some other bits in the right hand side cubby hole.

It is marked as T90 or T91. John

Thanks for getting back.

Is this the receiver - I removed fuse 16, unplugged the power and aerial connection to this receiver before reconnecting both but unfortunately the fob was still not working and only flashing red when I pressed the OFF button (or ON button subsequently).

I don't really want to get a new fob unless I am pretty sure that is where the problem lies!

It might be that your vehicle battery is slightly down on charge, or even insufficient fuel in tank. Checks are made to ensure that the battery can deliver enough cranking power after a 20 minute FBH cycle and that there is sufficient fuel. If either conditions aren’t met, the FBH fob will flash red and not fire up from the remote.

Matt - I don't think that is the explanation as by coincidence I have just installed a new battery. There is also plenty of petrol in the tank.

Thanks for the suggestion, anyway.
