England 2011 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC V8 Santorini Black

Excellent - someone has the same issue I have but is a great deal better at explaining it than I could have - sounds like a ref's whistle under the dash - spot on. Can someone be a bit more specific on where this little fan is located. "On first name terms with my local Dealer......now."

This is from another site // Saves me typing Wink

To replace the ECU fan, just open the hood, look for the very large black box, remove the screws (with an allen key). The ECU fan is located clear at the bottom of the ECU box and is not obvious since it is enclosed in a plastic shroud.

At first it can look a little intimidating to replace, but it is really easy. The only tool you need is a very long phillips screw driver. Removing the wires that are over it is very easy. Just gently pull up and the plug interface that is closest to the front of the car can come completely out of the way for you, and then by taking a pair of needle nose pliers, the electrical connector can be removed that the fan plugs into that is toward the back left side of the box.

Remove the two screws, and then just reach down below, rotate the fan clockwise. This is very important since the fan exhaust male shroud actualy slips into a female shroud that is part of the ECU box at the bottom of the ECU box to maximize on air flow. rotating it clockwise will rotate the male part out of the female part.

Now just pull up gently and the fan can be removed.

The only tricky part of putting the new fan in is to make sure the exhaust part of the fan shroud (male part) slips into the female shroud that is part of the ECU box. Use a flashlight as you guide it in.

The rest of putting it back together should be obvious.

Thumbs Up
