IID Tool not doing what's expected

So I have changed my lower suspension arms and now the car is showing active suspension faults.

Tried to calibrate using IID and it simply does not work. The car doesn't go up or down when using either guided or manual calibration. It doesn't move at all. It seems that if I hold the iPad in landscape mode the suspension calibration mode doesn't do anything at all, I just get a blank screen.

Tried using both guided and manual on both a iPhone and an iPad but same result, then I got an error message and the car is stuck in "Suspension not in customer mode"

I have sent logs to GAP but I must say for £475 I am very disappointed that this tool isn't flawless.

I have used loads of specialist OBD tools before, for example VAG-COM and never seen this type of behaviour. It feels like the software is in beta.

Anyone else had any issues like this?

I don't think it's a problem with the tool - the suspension needs to be in normal mode to calibrate.

When entering calibration mode on the tool the message not in customer mode appears.

It wasn’t there before. The tool switches that message on.

Well it's your call but I would try toggling the build mode as I suggested and see whether it's set correctly. I had all sorts of weirdness on my D3 when the build mode was set incorrectly. 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

Check it’s not in tight tolerance mode as well

This tool is starting to get on my nerves now.

I opened up the compressor to make sure it was working ok, and removed the cleaned the filter which is now nice and clean.

I start the car, make sure it's in normal drive height and wait until the compressor stops running, then enter calibration mode and guided calibration.

As soon as I enter the calibration mode the car starts going mad and venting the nearside front all the way down to it's bump stop!

WTF is it playing at?!

You have accidently reversed a height sensor or both a common mistake when you disconnected then to change the lower arms.

You should not need to recalibrate after changing lower arms

I thought that but drivers side adjustment arm can only go one way. Passenger’s side is a mirror of the driver side.

The manual states the suspension needs calibrating. When I started the car back up after the work was complete I got a suspension system failure warning.

Steering wheel is also not straight following the change, which is a little odd.

You would be better talking directly to Pat at Gap. He is the Chief Engineer and excellent, he just solves problems.

gapteam@gap-diagnostic.com

The IIDTool is excellent but imperfect. It covers so much ground really well but.... how to say this!!.... Range Rovers are not an exact science so the solutions are not always binary.

hope that helps !

I would have thought that if your old arm bushes were really worn the new ones have pulled the hub into it's correct position which will have altered the tracking making your steering wheel not straight.

Managed to get the suspension calibrated this morning, from cold- Result.

I've already got Pat @ GAP on the case as there's certainly some odd behaviour but cannot pin down if it's iOS related or my car at the moment.

I thought I'd pre-empt a GAP diagnosis and ask here in case anyone had a fix or seen such issues.
