From my own experience on a 4.4 TDV8 I know that it will cut the engine but it does give a brief warning with what feels like a misfire. Switching off and restarting seems to reset things but not for long (minutes not days)

There is also a TSB available to explain the issue with the fuel pump wiring in the saddle tank and the car running out at 1/4 tank still showing on the gauge... |

I can state for certain that my (now departed) 2010VSE 3.6 worked perfectly well with the fuel gauge cable fault inside the tank as I drove it like that for a few months without any issues. there was no warning on the dash other than the needle reading zero fuel. 2010 VSE [Roger] |
