Jesus Wept!!!

Those of you that knew me and my problems of Land Rover ownership over on the RRS forum should not be surprised at my latest tale of woe in the FFRR....Anyway here goes!!! ... 3 weeks ago I picked up my new ( ex demo) 4.4 TDV8 FFRR from Stratstones in Perth having traded in my MY10 RRS which for loads of reasons was a very bad buy, apart from being IMO uncomfortable it also had to be roadside recovered on no less than 3 occasions over a 10 month period prompting me to get rid sooner than planned. I thought that getting a FFRR would be the right move Shocked
2 days after getting the car and 87 miles of blissfully trouble free motoring I parked it up at Edinburgh airport before going on a 3 week holiday and on returning to the car on Saturday night at 10pm I thought "wait and see I bet after reading all about battery problems she doesn't bloody well start"....low and behold she did with no problem to only go for about 100 yards before getting a screeching noise from the engine bay and then the dreaded restricted performance warning light flashing up Censored I managed to limp into Newbridge filling station at about 10.15 pm and phoned L/R assist ( I have their number as a contact in my phone Confused ) was told that this would be a recovery situation but unfortunately there were no available vehicles in Edinburgh to do this so it would have to come from Glasgow but as the driver had already been over his tacograph allowance he would have to have a 1 hour rest break before setting off...over 3 hours later at 2am on Sunday morning he arrives to pick us up Censored Once on board we head back to Dundee( by this time my wife is giving it to me big time about my choice of cars..... Censored and double Censored ) the driver whilst being a decent kind of guy drove the whole way back to home at about 30mph and wouldn't shut up about all the exciting recoveries he had done in the last 20 Censored years of his career. We arrive back at 4am absolutely knackered...its probably just as well that it was 4 am because any other time and I would probably have phoned the garage and said things that i may have possibly regretted in the end I did phone them this morning to say that the car had been picked up from my house and was on its way to them....it did give me a chance to tell them ( politely) that as far as this car goes it only gets this one chance, any more call outs and they can keep the Censored thing!!!!!!!!!!!!....I now await delivery of a Disco 4 from Enterprise Big Cry Big Cry

In an odd way it makes those of us who are poorer glad they buy a few years old with the wrinkles ironed out...

That's either bad news... or they haven't even looked at it yet.

Picked up the car this morning...spoke to service manager who tells me that they had to replace a return valve in the turbo I asked whether this was a common problem...he told me its the first time they have seen this Rolling Eyes

On the way home the brakes now seem to have a terrible shudder, just feels like a warped disc....another call to the dealer on Monday I think Big Cry

its not bloody on - spend £70K plus and you get a load of crap

and most dealers just shrug their shoulders and say its a land rover Mad

hopefully, if what i hear is correct Tata are going to put things right

good luck - 40 years of entrenched apathy will take some sorting!

No that it is any consolation but we have had two complete new sets of front discs and pads on the FFRR (at 5k miles from brand new and then again at 10k miles) on a MY10 3.6 TDV8.

Each time this was attributed to bad manufacture Question and was a full warranty claim. We are now at 14k miles so should be due another set (free of charge) shortly Shocked Currently running FFRR MY10 TDV8 3.6L and a Disco 3 XS Commercial (tank like but very effective as a Company van). Plus one mint condition Track Day Car in the form of an E36 M3 3.2L Evolution circa June 1996 with lots of go faster bits and only 52k miles on the clock! Oh, plus a few bits to make it slow down really quickly as well! Luvverly.
