How long will a brand new battery last before fitting

Very random question I know, been offered a brand new unopened battery for my L322 that was bought in April this year, been sat in a friends hallway for 4 months. Will it still be as good as it was when it was delivered to his?

Not on a FF but on my M/C I had a new battery sitting for over 2 years due to circumstances and after charging up with a "conditioner" it worked. Admittedly the wet acid type and the acid was not filled until put into use.

Check its voltage, charge it and try it. And tell your friend if it doesn't work you wont pay him. Smile Cheers

I would imagine it will be pretty much as good as new. A few extra months on the shelf won’t have hurt it. I doubt it will even need a charge. But as above check the voltage and put it on charge overnight if it’s a bit low. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I have had an old battery sitting about in my garage for a couple of years. Still shows 12+ volts when I check it, but doubt if it would crank a TD6 without a good charge Wink .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink
