Hi all, can the Iid tool lower the l322 4.4tdv8? And do you know by how much?

Now this isn’t for looks or any other modification reason but my wife has lost some of her mobility and even in access mode the car is becoming difficult to get in and out of and I wondered if there was a way I could increase the amount the access mode dropped the car as a quick fix to help?

Thanks for any advice, I had read you can recalibrate the suspension to a minus height but I don’t know if this has unwanted safety side effects.

Interested in peoples experiences.

The later ones (yours) can only be lowered all together so lowering access mode would lower normal mode and then you will get problems with the wheels hitting the front arches on lock if you go too low...

How about getting some deployable sidesteps...?? Pete

Thanks for the reply, we have the fixed steps but they are still not helping. I was looking for a quick fix I could do at home. Is there a safe amount you can drop by? I was thinking that if it’s total the bags might them be out of the operating window? As in normal mode it’s too much of a drop?

My wife had similar probelms of access in 2018 and GraemeS on here was, at that time, making electical kits that would allow the FF to lower to the bump stops. We (the wife) decided she was not going that route as she refused to allow the condition to defeat her. He may still have them or be prepared to make some more.

Perhaps he will be along soon or you could PM him. He was certainly very helpful at the time of our discsussion. Cheers

With a Gap Iid diagnostic tool, you can lower the normal ride height - which will lower the the Access Mode height by the same amount.
If your car is at the LR standard ride height now and on standard diameter tyres, you might be able to lower it by 30mm. However, by doing so you reduce the available suspension travel and increase the potential to hit the bump stops when hitting big bumps or potholes - making the ride worse.
If lowered by this much, you should also have the various key suspension bolts loosened and re-tightened at the lower ride height to prevent bush "wind-up" causing accelerated deterioration. Steering alignment should also be redone.
I've run at - 30mm for quite a while to help my wife get in, but I much prefer the feel of the car at standard ride height.

PS : If you lower the car too far with a diagnostic tool, to the point the car rests on the bump stops in Access Mode, the suspension will get confused when lowered with the Access button & raise itself the Extended Mode.The result is that Access Mode becomes no use !
This is because sitting on the bumpstops make it think the car is stuck on an obstacle.
I know because I've tried - lol

If you lower the suspension permanently don't forget to inform your insurance that you have modified the vehicle...  Pete
