I imagine there’s no chance it will get through the next round of EU emissions regs.

I could understand BMW wanting to restrict engine supply if they made a Range Rover equivalent, the X7 isn’t even close. It’s a win win for BMW.

Why would they fit a BMW V8 when they have just bought the ability to build the ex Ford V8 for themselves and they’ve been so keen to become independent in terms of engine manufacturing?

I am positive the M5 V8 is going to be available!

They did not ship the plant to Wolverhampton. The Bridgend engine line was past its useful life. They invested in a brand new V8 line.

So, surprising indeed if they go with BMW engines.

(And it is a Jaguar V8, not a Ford V8 )

It certainly won’t be the M5 engine.

A BMW V8 yes.

Weirdly, I have never driven an M5. Passenger only. And no complaints!

I am wondering if these L460 soy shots actually have a L405 body gaffer taped on. I mean, so far they’re basically identical externally and I can’t believe that will be the reality. A huge departure from the RR design language is not expected, but surely they’re going to have to be more sleek with headlamp size, door handles etc. I think we’re being slow-played so far. And I want to see a sneak interior spy shot. L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso

Look at the change of Evoque 1 to Evoque 2 to see what is in store I would say.

Flush door handles, slimmer lights, less wrap around of the clamshell bonnet. The same general look as L405 but cleaner and more minimal.

They did move the line to Wolverhampton, a “lift and shift” operation - Ford had already decided to close Bridgend, where the engine was built in its own separate facility. BMW engines have been in the offing for a long time, under “Project Jennifer”, and there’s no chance the AJ-V8 will survive Euro 7.

Lot of differences if you look - one of the most obvious is how the front is more upright.

Are you sure?

Some of my colleagues interviewed an engineer who was working on the Wolverhampton V8 line. It must have been about this time of the year 2 years ago. The interview notes said that Bridgend was past its useful life and that the V8 line was therefore a new assembly line.

I see it’s losing the lower screen. I really like that as you can leave the map on the main screen (I like traditional looking dials on digital dashboards….) and have music on the lower one, or HVAC / seats etc. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

Philip is right

They moved the line as a stop gap measure before the arrival of BMW engines.
