L405 has a powered / self closing tailgate, so I guess the doors are the next logical step.....

I'm talking about self opening doors; when the remote is recognized, the handles pop out and then the door opens completely!

With some of the new tech they're putting in, which hasn't been in any other model yet, I'd be waiting a while before buying one so they can get it working.

It's a shame the P400e is still a 4 cylinder, hopefully the battery/range will be greater. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

I hope the door has some form of sensor to stop it opening into the side of someone else's car or worse still the path of an oncoming car. Whistle

Sounds good in theory, but I'd like to see it in practice.

Why would they fit a BMW V8 when they have just bought the ability to build the ex Ford V8 for themselves and they’ve been so keen to become independent in terms of engine manufacturing?

That doesn't make sense to me either?? the 5.0 v8 is a cracking engine as well.

Personally not a fan of BMWs nor there engines. I had a M5 on loan for a few days a few weeks ago and it was the worst car i have ever driven and tech was pretty poor as well.

I think it’s down to emissions RM, Jaguar have said they want to be all electric so outside of the Defender there probably isn’t a long term future for the AJ V8 engine, there’s a new Sport round the corner that’s also rumoured to use the BMW 4.4 V8.

The worst car you've driven...ever?! I don't want an M5, but I've driven a lot of cars that are worse than one and I don't think I've been particularly unlucky!

The tech is very good in BMWs, coming from a 2017 750i series did feel like a bit of a step back tech wise when I got the RR, but the latest BMW digital dials are awful both in terms of how they look and lack of functionality. My 750i had the 4.4 V8 engine and it was excellent in that car, great performance, it sounded good and was surprisingly economical (40mpg possible on the motorway without trying). That was in an 1800kg car though, so don't expect the same when it's in a 2.5 tonne truck! MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

The AJV8 is ancient now, and the BMW partnership has been in the offing for ages - presumably it will be the next generation twin-turbo V8, and it makes sense for BMW to partner on what’s a niche engine for them.

When I was at Solihull, the factory guide was explaing how restrictive 3rd party engine supply deals can be, especially if the supplier is a direct competitor. He gave the final 12 months’ Defender production as an example, explaining how they could sell every Defender that they could build, but had to limit production to the number of engines that Ford would supply. Now imagine how BMW might behave, given the opportunity to throttle Range Rover production, a car that could hurt their high profit cars.

I would be surprised if LR couldn’t see another 10 - 15 years (which is all they really need) out of the Ford V8, having just bought the rights to build it and shipped the plant to Wolverhampton.

I was reading a review of the new V8 Defender and it sounds like the latest changes to improve emissions have dulled it down, apparently they've had to resort to fake sound inside the car and amplifying the supercharger noise to make it sound more interesting.

So many cars have been ruined by having a DPF fitted, but not all. As an example, the latest GT3 still sounds great, I've no idea how they've managed that. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid
