its not part of the 48k mile service so although its showing an 'amber' i would get the diagnosis double checked and go with the cheapest quote. ... - .- -.

As the compressor can't be changed without removing/refilling the gas I can't see how they can justify charging anything for gas if the compressor is under warranty? |

Isn’t it amber just because of time rather than there being any real need to get it done?

There is no time period to get the air conditioning gas refilled. If it ain't broke and it's performing adequately, there's no need to do anything. Kev

Absolutely, servicing should be done in line with the manufacturers service schedule and it is silly not to.

Best way to check the compressor function is to take the pressures from the ports when operating, if OK, then leave well alone. That check for leaks, if it still blowing nice and cold, chances are that you will not find a leak. |

Nothing to service on an aircon system gents, sealed system, nothing can get in or out, only needs looked at when it doesn't work properly, usually due to a leak of refrigerant. |
