[Wanted] WANTED - L322 Westfalia Tow Bar

WANTED - L322 Westfalia Tow Bar

Anyone got one fitted they don't use or know someone who has one they don't use?

Easy job. My car already has the support frame installed but, the cross bar has been removed at some point so, this is what I need. It un-bolts with 2 bolts and comes straight off - no need to remove the frame as well or remove the bumper.

I need the cross bar, hitch and loom (highlighted in the picture below. The two support brackets remain on the car and aren't visible).

I'm willing to come and remove.

I think you've been given some duff info sir...

The towbar itself comes in a single piece and requires you to remove the two braces you mention above to fit it... Thumbs Up

Yes Westfalia made the parts on your car for all production L322's sir...

I can guarantee you, your parts need to be removed to fit the Westfalia towbar...

Ask me how many of these I've fitted in my working life!???! Whistle

I'm just asking the question why they're there and what that plus shaped hole is, over just an exhaust bracket? 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

I think, from memory, the shaped hole is to but a bolt through? No?

Cant really remember to be honest... The brackets on your car are for mounting the exhaust to and the rear tow eye sir...

As Craig says the unit is one complete piece, requiring the removal of the 2 current brackets

There are 2 variants, but not sure when the cut over was.

The earlier one will fit the later model, but you have to cut the exhaust hangers off the brackets you remove.

I have twin and/or single electrics harness and plug(s) if you're interested drop me a DM.

So then, is there anyone on this forum who sells either detachable or adjustable for a 2011 L322?

I've seen Tow Trust sell a generic detachable one for affordable money. I do prefer the 'slot in with pin' type that Westfalia make though, instead of the Swan neck type. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Hi, I have one of the Tow Trust tow bars. It has the same ratings 150KG nose weight and 3500KG trailer.
I'm only towing a tin tent.
After some Disco 3's having issues with detachable tow bars detaching - it kinda made me wary - on my old D3 I went for the heavy duty fully bolted on type.
So for the FFRR - no horror stories of detachments whilst in motion - but personally I still like the security of fully bolted on, it would need more than one bolt to fail before any trailer became detached.
Only needs 2 bolts removing to remove the tow hitch - though I leave mine in place.

I had to remove the existing brackets to fit the tow bar, which is a bumper off job. Easy if you search for the how to videos on you tube.
The only downside I found with the Tow Trust tow bar is you lose the towing ring - which is only a problem if you need to tow a car with a pole that won't fit on the ball hitch! (I removed my tow ball and used an M16 lifting eye in one of the holes - worked fine).
Obviously if you use a tow rope / strap just put it on the tow ball.

Good luck and happy safe towing which ever way you decide to go Smile Anything can be made to work if you fiddle with it long enough (and have deep pockets|)

Point to note is that the OEM Westfalia armature is no longer made, so if you want that one you will need to buy a 2nd hand one.
