activate starter code......

I cant find anything on this Topic here on the forum , nor in the manuals.
I get a message on the info screen on the instrument panel and also on the centre screen that a code is required to activate the starter .The screen says I can deactivate this but only after 9.59 mns. Has anyone had to do this , has someone in the past introduced this as extra security.
I tried deactivating it but it only alarms. The key fob can cancel as long as the doors are shut Can it only deactivate so long as the code are zeros and you wait 10mns.

Not come across this before .
Any help appreciated.
Pat

It’s a BMW thing, so was employed on the early cars. I had it on all my BMWs and the TD6.

You press the code option, type in a 4 digit number, then you have to type that in next time before the car will start. Get it wrong and it makes you wait before trying again. This time gets longer with each wrong entry.

I sold my early car in 2016, so I can’t look in the manual.

Hmm cant see anything in the manual either , Ill look at rave. Thing is there is no clue as to what number /code is required, unless you make one up.
Correction there is a page in Audio book but no clue what or where you can get the number you need , option to change but from what . Ill see if I can transfer the page on here.
Thanks I think there has been psts since trying to send a photo , phone was run over lol and so not working very well!!!

Oh yes, you make one up each time when you set it. I seem to remember there is a way round it if you don’t know the number, but there is lots of waiting involved.

I can’t see anything obvious in an old workshop manual I had for a TD6.

Just a thought, if you have a Gap iiD, look in the CCF for the BCU to see if there is the option to have the system switched on or off.

I know you’ve already tried battery disconnect, but a chap posted a video of doing it on his X5....

This chap pulled the connectors off the back of his instrument cluster to get his car to start..... I know it’s an X5 but same architecture... least you could take it somewhere then....

Hope you can get it sorted. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

This one takes about touching the terminals together before you connect the battery back up.....
