Congrats on the beautiful repair. Mine is giving me nightmares...I shut the rear door yesterday and a small chunk of rusted metal fell out...sigh...

Does any one know if YRM do the sills for the l322 yet they are not advertised on the website?

Did anyone ever track a manufacturer down? yrmit.com didn't go down that route, or at least they don't now.

Having just done mine, I found that the rot covered not just the outer wing but the end of the sill and the inner wing. So while the outer wing repair panels were good to use alot more repair panels would have been useful!

Thx for the feedback

It's a nightmare! I've got two 03's one has fared better than the other. I'm pricing up a MIG welder and do the bastard myself!

Did you take any photos?

I'll let you know how I get on.

Cheers

the original replacment part from JLR was the entire side frame and sills as one unit, the body shop local to me did one about 10 years ago for an insurance repair to passenger side of 2003 L322

Yup

Buying one of those parts alone at this stage of its life would just write the car off.
I remember Land Rover quoting
me something crazy for the part only when all of this first started (for me anyway) Current Fleet

yes indeed ( it was information purposes only not to be taken as advice, I doubt JLR has any stock anyway )

but when BMW bought Land Rover in 1994, the third gen L322 design got underway in earnest, and BMW made the decision (unlike all other 4x4 and SUV manufacturers of the time to go with a monocoque body design) , many feel that this compromised the towing strength abilities and 4x4 qualities of the vehicle, but thats besides the point, the BMW decision and the design that was finalised for the wheel arches and sills was a poor one for Northern Europe climates with a lot of salt on the roads and climates that generally have a lot more rain than anywhere else Sad

we now have to suffer the consequences of this poor design, many L322's are now failing their annual MOT due to corrosion around these areas, a friend of mine has a very late 2010 L322 and it failed the MOT last year, the sills were in a such terrible state, that the metal fabrication company had to cut out all the rot and patch it up - but it cost him over 2 grand Banging Head
