L405 - Restricted Performance - EGR Valve

Having a few issue with my MY16 4.4V8 - might be useful or interesting for someone. Thumbs Up

Restricted Performance issues started a few months back. Indy diagnosed MAP/MAF correlation fault and replaced inlet manifold pipe as this was leaking at inlet elbow. Visually inspected turbo actuator and diverter valve operation found to be okay. Turbo actuator linkage also checked and found to be okay. Removed that sensor and found to be completely blocked map sensor and intake. Removed, cleaned and road tested – fault cleared.

Approximately one month later fault recurred when underload going up hill ... not much fun going up Solstice Hill on the A303 at 25mph!! Censored

Car back with Indy who are now changing the EGR valve which was found to be virtually inoperative due to the crud - see pics.

Hope this resolves the issue - question how to prevent it happening in the future?! This car has had regular longish runs.

Hi Hawkeye,

I am having all sorts of similar issues with my MY2016 4.4. Do you know what fault codes were thrown up when this happened? 2019 Autobiography SDV8 Byron blue/black - current

Fault Codes:

P006A-84 - Absolute Manifold Pressure
P2BAE-00 - NOX Exceedance

EGR Replaced and the NOX has now cleared but the first one remains and garage are fault diagnosis tottery and isolate in. order to resolve.

Needless to say the Warranty Company - RAC Platinum Plus - are attempting to deny any responsibility.

Broadland Landrovers, Westbury, Wiltshire have been excellent throughout.

Any / all ideas / thoughts welcome! Very Happy

As you have replaced your EGR you should now have cleaner running, judging by the state of that MAF sensor I would be worried about the soot in the intake manifold (has that been cleaned out)? It's worth checking the state of the MAP sensor also if the EGR valve was knackered, it could that the MAP vacuum is line is blocked having sucked up debris from the manifold. I would check that if they have not done so already. 2021 L405 Vogue D300

I think you can't avoid EGR clog up on a diesel car. Hence the ban on them. Carbon and NOS is diesel by product and there is no way to get around it.

I am surprised not many people have reported this and swear by their diesel cars to be faultless even though this is an inheret issue.

As you are in Melksham, book it on with Steve at T & s Norman just south of Shepton Mallet. https://www.tandsnorman.com

Wot he don't know about LRs ain't wurf a jot (as we say in theze 'ere partz). He will also analyse and theory test to find a solution.

He fixed my DPF regen fault which no other LR dealer or Indie could (it was a cracked thermostat housing which reduced Engine temps).

Hi Hawkeye,

Sorry for resurrecting the old thread but interested if you ever got to the bottom of this?

Thanks
