Absolutely nothing on final (cranking) position of key

I've had my current 2008 RR L322 Vogue 3.6 TDV8 since early April.

Love the car but it quickly became unreliable and now absolutely won't start.

Everything seems OK and working as normal when you put the key in and turn it as far as the run position, all dash lights and media system working but when you turn to the spring-loaded starter position there's no change apart from the radio going off until you release the key back to the run position. Absolutely nothing, no slow crank, not even a click.

I've seen a number of threads on other forums along with various videos but they're all for the earlier version with the ignition in the centre console next to the driver's knee where mines in the dash to the left of the steering column. A lot of them are also for foreign, left hand drive cars and everything is in a different place.

I've had all maner of green oval vehicle and done many major repairs on them but I'm totally stumped by this one. I'm not helped by the lack of workshop manual or wiring diagram.

Please can any one help me? Where do I get the technical info? Where's the starter relay? What inhibiter switches are there? How do I get the these?

Any help would be much appreciated as I have a caravan to trade in and collect the new one it a bit under 2 weeks so I have to sort it.

The ignition switch is a known common failure on this model - there are a few threads about it on here

I am fairly sure that your ignition switch is faulty, I got the same with mine. Steering unlocked, steering wheel moved to position, all dash functions were correct, but no click or cranking over whatsoever. Looking at the ignition switches, it looks like yours will be the same as on an 06 Td6. Cost about £50 ish
Only difference is mine is in the centre console so it was quite an easy job to do. Sorry I have not seen a guide or other info for changing with the dash mounted key position. There may be some info in the wiki section.

Morning, speaking from experience, changing the ignition switch on the later model year L322s with the switch higher up, it's a right work up. You have to remove god knows how many trims in order to access the 3x torx screws without damaging anything. I would respectfully suggest eliminating other problems first, not least the starter itself. You can check this by shorting the terminals on the solenoid but for heaven's sake be careful doing this.

been having a similar issue with my TD6 which appears to trace back to slightly loose battery terminals, they appear to be moving whist the car is travelling and just making contact enough for radio dash lights etc but not for cranking next time you turn the key - repositioning solves (for a while), currently they are both cable tied so not to move whilst I investigate alternative clamps.
