Good morning,

My 2004 Vogue Head Unit has stopped working properly as of the weekend. It all worked fine on Thursday, and then on Friday (just as we were starting a long drive) the screen came on and the Nav worked fine but the amber light does not come on by the volume knob and there is no sound and also the DSP option is now missing from the menu screen?

Any ideas what may be causing this? Is it the main head unit in the dash or the DSP unit in the boot that could be faulty?

I just went out to investigate a bit more and when I disconnected the DSP I noticed the connectors were a bit moist, not wet, but just a bit damp and the residue was a bit dirty. I gave them a quick wipe and plugged them all back in and the amber light on the screen unit still not light up and now the backlight of the screen comes on but no graphics. I have now disconnected the DSP to leave to air a bit and then I'll give the connectors a proper clean and then refit this afternoon to see if that helps, otherwise, I feel a new unit or DSP repair job is in order. '04 Adriatic Blue Td6 Vogue

An option will be grey on the menu screen, and then removed if the unit does not identify itself on the ibus.

The problem will be in the boot, the head unit is just a front end.

Water ingress is a common issue. You will need to make sure the units are fully dry and connections good.

Land Rover did a “water shedder” to help with the issue. It’s just a plastic bag that goes behind and over the units....

Yes it certainly looks that way. Although I am a bit puzzled as to why the slave screen has now stopped showing any graphics but hopefully when everything has dried out it should work. '04 Adriatic Blue Td6 Vogue

I think thats fed from the Sat Nav unit. It might have defaulted to something strange with the DSP not there.

Or it’s connections damp also. You need to dry that corner of the boot if you can.

The DSP has not identified itself on the ibus network, so removed from the menu. If you can get it going, it should reappear. Helps your troubleshooting at least. I can’t remember the colour of the ibus wire. Might be white or white and something. The Workshop manual is available for download in the Wiki.

The Code is used so you can set a 4 digit pin, so the car won’t start unless the pin has been entered. I can’t remember if that is always grey or not, but can only be set with the engine off. I wouldn’t worry about that at the moment.

It looks like the DSP is dead so I'm going to send it off for repair.

I have thought about a full stereo replacement for something aftermarket that would work with CarPlay etc, but I've always preferred things to stay as original as possible and as this car is 100% how it was when it came out the factory, I just can't bring myself to change it.

Baris on here can do repairs if you are stuck. And amp upgrades... all on the stock units...
