Mine used to go off randomly.... as it sat in the heat and the bonnet switch triggered as the metal moved. I bent the bracket up a bit and put a rubber grommet on the end of the plunger to make it effectively longer. No issues since.

Not a nice thought but, could anyone be trying to tamper with the car? There's a big issue with theft at the moment sir... |

Try setting the alarm with the internal sensor switched off and see what happens. |

Mine went off a few times (also a 2012 4.4 TDV8) when I first got her around two and a half years ago, when it rained heavily. OK since then though. I had a Jag XK8 about 4-years ago and the alarm would go off every time it rained heavily or was very windy - until someone suggested closing all the air-vents on the dash, to stop the wind affecting the air pressure inside the car, and setting of said alarm. That silly thing worked, though probably the air pressure thing doesn't relate to the TDV8?!? Have I seen that low battery can set alarm off also? |

Thanks for your input so far... it looks like I’m the only person suffering with this problem... however, the battery is nearly new, there is nobody tampering with the cars and I’ve changed the bonnet switch (OE part).

Don’t double lock the car... ie only press the lock button once on the remote fob to lock, not twice.

I had a random alarm sounding on mine, again suspected bonnet switch so removed and taped over, still sounded usually around 8 at night.

Now we’re talking... Just perhaps dirty terminals... Mine goes off randomly, but like your’s, early evening is the most common time, although it can get later into the night... very occasionally during the day, but not often.. |
