Parking sensor beeps.....

A small thing and nothing more than an annoyance- but, when I’ve reversed and the sensors have done their job and I select another gear the parking sensor beeping remains active unless I press the parking sensor button to cancel it or turn the engine off, in other cars I’ve had, as soon as I’ve gone out of reverse the sensors switch off. Is this normal or is mine being special?

My sensors and reversing camera stay on for about 15 seconds after reverse has been de-selected.

I'm guessing that is because you may be doing a 3 or more point turn and so the sensors all stay live. My front sensors only come on when reverse is selected or the button is pressed.

Chaps, it's neither. They will remain live until you get to around 10mph (Going forward!). The reason being is that as has already been suggested, if you're shunting backwards and forwards in a tight space, you want the system to remain live. As you're unlikely to be maneuvering once you get above 10mph the control unit then assumes you are now no longer maneuvering and switches itself off.
You can prove this to yourself by driving forward with the system still live, and once you reach that speed you'll see the tell tale light on the button go out. Though keep in mind it'll only be activated if you've either selected reverse before drive, or have pressed the button to manually switch the system on. If you're in Park and just go straight into Drive, the system will remain off.

I guess I'm not pressing the loud pedal hard enough if it takes me 15 seconds or so to get to 10MPH! Laughing

Thanks for the info.

I have the same thing Paul and thought it might be a fault somewhere. But on the plus side, it's a good way to leave the engine on tickover while you turn it off and lower suspension to let the turbos cool down. My excuse for not find it annoying anymore and saving my engine.

Is there no coolant circulating pump to cool the turbo's down?

My Cupra R has a pump that circulates for 10 minutes after the engine is shut down and that's a lot less of a car than the 4.4 TDV8.

Hey omg I'm very new to owning a FF l322 so I really couldn't comment on that, I'm sure some of the knowledgeable on here will be along to answer your question. I have the 3.6 and reading all the horror stories of the turbos letting go and in which no one has a definitive answer as to why some turbos decide to self destruct. As it's my first ffrr tdv8, I'm just following some simple advice I read about in here in ways to help stop the dreaded turbo failure.
