Am I out of touch on style?

I’ve been taking a look around the nearly new market recently, mainly through LR approved but also Autotrader.

My preferences would be:

V8, either petrol or diesel, really want dynamic response
Prefer clear windows, not privacy glass
Pretty relaxed about body colour - there are very few LR colours I wouldn’t touch with a barge pole
Pretty relaxed about internal trim/wood colour
Ideally prefer ivory interior
Don’t like black pack - I prefer silver badging
Don’t like all black wheels on a RR

But I’ve been left feeling that these are all pretty unusual. If I compare 2016 when I bought my current RR I recall having lots of choice which met the above.

Alternatively, perhaps there are just lots of gangsta blacked windowed, blacked wheeled, blacked badged motors unsold for a reason - ie no one else wants to buy them either!

The search may continue, otherwise this one might be an even longer keeper... 2016 SDV8 AB

Found the same when I looked 20 months ago.

I'm not a fan of Black Wheels or Black Pack either.

I'm another fan of clear rather than privacy glass. But its been a "no cost" option and pre-ticked on the configurator for several years so relatively few clear get specified - takes a positive action to achieve and is presented like its giving up a freebie. Also its clear from those for sale that black on black is the most popular combination. I find a black interior on any colour car too somber and would always prefer something lighter but they're very difficult to find. I was disappointed looking for an SVA that there are literally no light colours available even as an option. Best I could get was the two tone Ivory/Black which is OK but not ideal. We're all different and I suppose those of us different to most will always struggle to find what we want in the used market. Mike - MPx

The spec of yours and mine are similar and if I replace it will also be similar but we are the people that buy them. They ask 27 year olds in a focus group what colours they should do.
I am close to ordering a new 90 V8 but they dont do a colour that is faintly agreeable and I dont want fake checker plate on the wings.
But they only lost £1bn so what do I know. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-57166793 letters not necessarily in the right order

Here's my new D300 VSE with no privacy and Ivory interior with Shadow Walnut. I'm an old traditionalist who likes the FFRR like they were, plain and simple (if you could ever describe a FFRR as such!!) Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

We had the same issue, looking for 2015-17 models. Neutral

I love the Ivory interior, I was very nervous about going for a light interior but so far it hasn't been a issue at all. Sold - Bell a 2015 MY16 Loire Blue Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

There was a Balmoral Blue FFRR at Solihull waiting to be collected yesterday, that looked really nice except for the ebony seats, it would have looked even nicer with ivory and no Privacy.....just my opinion! All LR cars from 1984

I completely agree with you. I was looking around one of the Land Rover main dealers the other day for a car for my Dad. I would say 80% of the vehicles had black wheels and black trim. Certainly not my taste at all. Kev

You are not out of touch at all.

For me, FFs normally go in one of two directions: old man style or gangster...IMO.

And it's tricky to strike a balance of being somewhere in the middle, it comes down to what's important to you.

I wanted what I felt was contemporary, so I wanted piano black veneer and any other colour apart from black. Light or dark leather. For me, its wood and exterior colour sets the tone, not so much the leather colour.

Gook luck with the search. 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster - Baltic Blue, Jet interior

Dark metallics and light interior every time for me. Not fussed on privacy glass; current car is clear glass but previous has privacy. Black wheels and details, no, just no.

Completely agree with you: No privacy glass + dark coloured body and light coloured interior is the most classic combination, IMO. Highlights the classy floating roof design element.

A perfect fullfat could be: Balmoral blue/ baltic blue/ portofino blue with ivory interior, satin wood (or grand black) trims and NO privacy glass! Really classy look! Like this one: http://www.yorkshireweddingcars.com/range_rover_vogue.htm
But also dark grey body colour, like carpathian or corris grey or similar.

The challenge I have, is that there are even fever pre owned fullfats that fits our preferences here locally, and therefore I think we just have to accept that we will have to specify a new one to our liking next time. Due to the very high taxes on ICE cars here, we currently consider to order a new Taycan Cross Turismo that fits our preferences, and use this as a pure driving pleasure car together with our fullfat, while we're waiting for a BEV or PHEV L460...

North of England?

Are you in the north of England by any chance?

My understanding is that black “Brexit Voter Wheels” are popular in those parts. So are Samsung telephones and not having teeth.
