Old van all cleaned out for Px.

New (to me) van agreed on with dealer. We found a 2 year old Bailey Pegasus grande Turin at Don Amott down the road. Seemed a reasonable deal and got a decent price for my van on trade 😀

It’s amazing how much stuff came out of the old van. We very rarely emptied the van out, the age of some of the stuff in there was worrying! I think there is about a 150kg payload on it and I must have taken at least that out in assorted cr&p.

This is the new one

It’s amazing how much stuff you carry around in the tin tent.

I think so. Phil Narey spoke about building one for himself which was a 520 TA. I’m pretty sure this was the last 640 built. I had it on a 2500kg chassis to account for all the “anti old bloke” equipment I had fitted. Auto levelling, auto seek dish, A/C and AWD movers. Hopefully it means I can keep doing it for many years to come. Thumbs Up

Quality vans. Thumbs Up

Not like the flimsy family vans they build, trying to get the weight down. The MTPLM on the new one is only 1686kg, whereas the lunar is about 1900kg. I can buy an extra bit of load directly off Bailey for about £50 which I think is definitely worth doing.

We toyed with a few layouts to replace the Lunar which was a double dinette, should we go bunks for the kids or a fixed bed, in the end the Turin over the Palermo won out. Making up the double is a pain, chucking a couple of sleeping bags for the kids on the front benches will work and is easier. Having the fixed bed doesn’t actually take up much more space than the fixed bunks.

That looks nice NMJ Bailey’s are not bad I had a Unicorn Seville for a couple of years in between Vanmaster’s apart from making the bed up good caravan nothing broke but Vanmaster’s are like Fattys once you have had one it doesn’t matter what you have afterwards you keep comparing them and then go back. It’s a shame they no longer make them I saw Steve the other week needed a couple of things for mine and I was asking him if people are still ringing up asking for new ones, he still has the jigs but not the room to build them the last one he sold he said was £78000!!! You can imagine that and a new Fatty your knocking on the door of £200k.

That wasn’t mine at that price. Mine was priced at £65k but eventually agreed £60k. I got a further £2k by selling my old van rather than part ex’ing. Maybe second from last. 🤷‍♂️

In todays market, anyone with the know how and capability has to be thinking that building vans is a no brainer. When I went to the dealer to buy mine the car park was full at 10 mins past opening....3-4 vans and motorhomes per day going out of the door. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I was at Highbridge caravan centre in Newton Abbott in April and they were completely sold out having sold 15 to 20 motorhomes per day. These were units selling up between £70,000 and £90,000 each. They had no stock at all between all three of their centres. Nice work if you can get it.

Dropped my Van off at the dealer for appraisal, the chap spent a good hour in there and suffice to say they found all the damp I knew about and some extra bits. Chipped me a bit but tbh its still in the ballpark of where I wanted to be for it and they are not going to retail it, its off to auction.

anyway new van will be prepped in a couple of weeks so need to get somewhere booked ready. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
