Mystery oil leak

So my 4.2 had a bit of an oil leak. It’s gave the diff a coating and it seems to be dirty just above the diff but above there is lovely and clean. If you look from the top down you see no oil. It’s really hard to tell where it’s leaking is there any common places here? It’s not like the rocker covers on the 4.4 as I say as it’s right near the bottom maybe even the sump? Current stable:

Hi, do you have any picture of this leak? My 4.4 ajv8 has leak on indentical place, and I believe it is the upper oil pan, but it is so minor that I don't want to tackle with this, I just hope that it will not get any worse Rolling Eyes RR HSE 4.4 2006 LPG

I have not but that’s sort of what I was thinking and again it’s only the odd drip on the floor even thought there’s a thin coating.

If it is this what’s the issue the gasket? What’s involved to change it? Diff off , steering rack etc out? Current stable:

A good while ago the front diff was replaced on my vehicle by a local indy. After about three months an occasional drip of oil would manifest itself on the ground under the front diff and tracking could be seen on the diff itself. So took it back to the indy who put it up on a ramp cleaned the diff up and investigated the origin. He found two of the engine sump bolts above the diff had a very slight amount of oil on them. As the oil pan is sealed with sealant and not a gasket he would not tighten them up, saying it may make it worse by displacing something. The bolts were cleaned up and I monitored the issue for some months. On the next service which I did, on a ramp, I removed all the undertrays and managed to locate the two offending bolts, both had oil on the heads. They are an absolute Censored to get too, but I managed to just nip them up a little (factory torque is 20nm) and presto leak stopped and 18 months or so later no sign of a leak. Out of curiosity I found out the "book" time to reseal the oil pan!!!!!! 30 hours officially as it is engine out!!

Did you torque to that or just nip them 1/4 turn? Current stable:
