Please can anyone tell me, can the rear entertainment screens be neatly removed from the back of a 2021 L405?

Also, once removed, will I be left with some sort of ugly metal bracket / holes?

I don't really need the screens but as they are a no cost option on the AB, it seems a waste not to have them, especially as they will no doubt help with resale value when that time comes.

For anyone wondering why I'm so keen to remove them, the dogs will be occupying this area and I don't want the screens getting knocked / damaged.

I was just worried that the dogs may knock them causing damage - Certainly an option though if they're tricky to remove

if you do remove the screen there'll be an ugly hole left...another thought is something a large screen protector , the same kind you use on phones or tablets.. ... - .- -.

There's a reason they are a non cost option - because many people just don't want them.

Except when very young, my kids always preferred iPads - so headrest monitors were just old tech, getting older.....

Just get the car you want & don't worry too much about what the next owner may or may not be looking for. I'm not sure there's any real value in them anyway - will just make the car more or less appealing depending on whether you want them (or not).

I'm 100% with you on that Alistair - Nothing dates a car like old screens in the back.

Maybe I'll just request that they're removed from build - That said, it is a LWB version I'm going for, so may be slightly more important at resale.

I know it's a slightly different car but I was talking to a salesman at Rolls-Royce only a couple of weeks ago, he told me they had a Phantom without rear entertainment, it took them 18 months to shift it

Keep them if they don't cost you anything, put a screen protector on it if you are concerned about scratches. Although to be honest i'd be more concerned about damaging the rest of the trim compared to those relatively hard wearing screens...Especially if you don't have them and have leather instead

I don't get why anyone would want them, but you can see it on here lots of people look for them when buying secondhand. It is one of those.

PS. Worst my dog would do is lick them

All I keep seeing are children in the back of cars with dark rear screens, whilst they are using tablets, phones etc.

As you have mentioned having the car modified for your hounds, during said conversion, you could have non screen headrests fitted, and keep the others with screens for re-fitting - this is obviously assuming that the back seats etc would be retained to return the car back to standard prior to selling later on.
( I can picture the next potential buyer - oooohhhhh look the back seats have never been used )

Just a thought, it would add to the expense, but I imagine a nice conversion would not exactly be cheap anyway.

I think it’s cruel for the dogs to remove them. Mine loves watching reruns of Lassie and also Scooby Doo. Zombie Island is his favourite 🤩

In which case, i'm sure if you remove the screens you will be able to put in a cover piece the same as the non-RSE seats will have.

Also, if you're having the exec rear seats (acknowledging they will be removed for the dogs), when you reinstate the seats to sell the car on then buyers would likely expect to see the ipad screens. 2021 D350 Fifty Edition - Carpathian Grey

If they are in the headrests, if it were me, I’d specify them, and then look for some second hand normal headrests and fit those.... then you can swap for the headrests with the screen in when you sell the car on....

But as others have said, might be better getting a proper full height cargo/dog guard.

Thank you to everyone for your comments, help and advice. It looks like it's probably worth me having the screens, either they'll be removable in an i-pad style as Rob99 points out, or worse case scenario, I'll have them taken out and stored.

I know what Blackdog means about being more concerned about the rest of the interior, though this has been thought of.
Firstly, all of the rear seating will be removed and stored. A local car interior upholsterer I've been speaking with, will look to make some covers to protect the door cards and centre console and all other vulnerable surfaces where possible.
He's also looking to have a frame fabricated to raise up the area in the rear footwell, thereby providing a flat surface from back of front seats through to rear tailgate. This will then be covered with something soft, and additional washable fabric surfaces placed on top for the dogs.

Merchy - I'll definitely post some photos once the car has arrived and the modification is complete.
