Back to a Rangie (R666GRN) Questions!

It's been a while since I've had one and just won a 2006 3.6 tdv8 Vogue SE on eBay.

Assuming it's not a complete dog, I'll be bringing it home in the next few days.

Does anyone recognise the reg? (R666GRN) would be great to know it was owned by a member on here.

As it's a 2006, I'm not sure what the best / most cost effective way of getting Bluetooth and music streaming. Parrot kit?

I've only seen the pictures on the listing but can see the key in the ignition which appears to be the pre facelift, non flip key. Any reason for this? I though all facelifts came with a flip 3 button key!

Thanks

Just been out to mine to double check, my 2006 TD6 has Telephone / bluetooth function as per the 753 menu screen. I have no idea if this was standard, or an extra Question As for a parrot, I am a luddite Rolling with laughter

Mine also had old style keys when I bought it - further info below is probably old hat to you, but -

As for the 'BMW' style keys, these are easily changed to nicer flip keys, sourced from the internet, the only problem you may encounter is that you may need previous key synch entries deleted from the electronic system memory before the new keys will synch for the central locking, otherwise change over the transponder chip and after blade cutting, the car will start as normal with the new keys.

Hope this helps.

PS - Just seen the registration number 666, AND on Ebay, bloody hell, you definitely have a sense of adventure sir

The car got delivered to me last night. Very happy with it.
Bodywork needs a good polish and touching in but to my surprise (The listing stated 1 service) it has full service history with lots of invoices even for things like new EGR valves.

I don't appear to have bluetooth annoyingly. I press the phone button and it just says no telephone connected (There's a port for a phone in the arm rest).

I don't suppose any of you kind chaps would be able to let me know if I do have the bluetooth module?

Yep, that's the BT module sitting on the top of the stack in the left hand side of the boot. The one with the white optical cables going into it in the last picture

Suggest you take it out and check for any water damage. 09 RR Westminster 3.6TDV8 - Stornoway Grey / Black interior - now gone (sad face)

Don’t you have to pair your phone with it, before it will say a phone is connected?

I’ve not had that era RR, but have you tried looking on your phone to see if Land Rover is available to connect to?

Ok, I'll check it.

I had one of those bluetooth things that plug into the AUX socket and whilst I was pairing my phone, it didn't come up showing the car.

Search for the car on your phone. Not for your phone on the car. Thumbs Up

The pairing number is in the handbook, which I think is in the wiki if you haven’t got a copy. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Just to come back to the key issue, how exactly can I change my key to the better flip key?

I see I can buy a whole one with the PCB inside, do I literally just put the chip in it, get it cut then do the programming in the car?

Yes, ensure key is 433mhz, cut blade, transfer transponder chip and synch key to car for central locking.
If synch procedure fails, then you may need an out locksmith to delete previous key synch entries, to allow the system to synch your new keys. ( The key synch entry list may be full - so to speak ) You can do this yourself I was told, with a tool such as an XToolX100, but the prices start at around £160.
