2012 Westminster TDV8

So I bought the one I was looking at,67,000 miles 1 owner (family member) never off road never towed , fitted with rear entertainment pack plenty of service history and all invoices for parts and work done. It’s on 255/50R20 continental cc tyres, looking through the invoices it’s had a pair of front tyres then all four, then recently another pair of front tyres. This has been in the last 40,000 miles, I have seen the first time it had the fronts replaced the comment was tyres worn on outer edges, might be down to manoeuvring fast on full lock and scrubbing them off. I intend to do all the oils in the next month, I have been advised to do a gearbox mega flush, not sure if anyone up here can do that so will have to enquire. That’s it for now I am sure that I will be back with plenty of questions.

I used Quattro Autocare near York to do mine. Had bad experience at JAS, although a lot of people recommend them.

Ref your tyres scrubbing, get a proper 4x4 wheel alignment done on a hunter machine. Not too expensive but makes the steering and general drive so much nicer!

Lovely car btw. And Orkney will be suitable terrain for testing all its capabilities! Thumbs Up Bow down

Nice looking Westie - enjoy Thumbs Up

Yes, get a 4 wheel alignment done but also bear in mind that Conti's have a reputation for wearing on the outer shoulders, especially on the fronts even when alignment is spot on.

I understand other tyres don't have the same issue. 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography

Totally agree with Rob99. All the Conti's I've had on our Mercedes-AMG cars made the shoulders go bold in no time Sad Sadly there were no other tyres in their official sizes at the time. Towards the end of our ownership we managed to get some Pirelli's for it and I much preferred the wear on those.

I'd just wear them down, or if it become too harsh of a ride get some nice Pirelli all season tyres on them...

The four wheel alignment was done when previous owner had the front tyres fitted six weeks ago, I have noticed front offside suspension goes down overnight, but rises again in seconds, so must be a small leak somewhere. Going to change engine and diff oils, will have to wait for gearbox flush till we travel south again in a couple of months.

What oil does everyone recommend, just looked on opie site and they say the Castrol sLx is no longer available, and gave me a list of suitable oils. They quoted Ford specs, so as long as it meets the recommended specs are they all ok or is one brand favoured over others, horses for courses I know, but after running 2/300 tdi engines it’s a minefield.
