Too Much Oil - 4.4 TDV8

According to the dash my recently acquired '11 TDV8 has too much oil in it.

Is it just a case of finding the sump plug bolt and letting some out and, if so, how much should I be aiming to lose?

The indicator on the dash shows it very nearly to the top of the 'bar'.

Does the display say it's overfilled or are you just seeing the level is close to the top of the gauge? 2011 TDV8 Vogue SE

It says it is quite a way beyond the maximum indicator.

DO NOT try and remove the sump bolt and then put it back in. You will end up with about 9 litres of oil all over the place. Ask me how I know.

Also be aware that the gauge is very sensitive to gradients. the car must be on an absolutely flat and level surface or the gauge to read correctly. Even a small incline can have a significant impact on what the gauge says. Bish.
