I am not a mechanic, but the first thing to check would be the fluid in the reservoir, check for any obvious fluid leaks, then book it in for a check over. My money would be on a small PS fluid leak. I have an old SL55 AMG which has a very slow leak somewhere in the suspension system which eventually causes the system to throw an error. Takes about 3 years for this to happen after a top up of fluid - maybe your PS fluid is doing the same? |

I believe that it is electric but it may also have a oil reservoir?

Sounds more like the vairiable pressure side of ut is playing up... i would be suprised if its the power steering system. It's possible there is a faulty solenoid valve that controls the pressure. When your under 18mph it's on full power I.e. easy to steer and park, as speed increases the pressure backs off to provide the driver a more positive feel on the road. My money is on some kind of sensor that controls it. I would get it plugged in and pull off a diagnostic fault code |

Exactly same thing happened to me called out landrover assist and says it’s a common fault and points issue to earth cable connections in the boot which dealer checked and cleaned earth strap connections and re calibrated software and had no problem since 👍 Last night I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky and I thought to myself, where,s the f**king ceiling!!

Aljo - many thanks for the update. I’ll dig around and clean up the connections. It’s annoying but at least it’s a cheap "failure". |
