Had PF Jones fit a detachable Westfalia tow bar on my 405 on my drive a couple of weeks ago. £770 inc. VAT. It’s great, easy to pop on and off. So is the cover underneath. No need to cut the cover unless you want to leave the tow bar on for an extended time. Works a treat with my Thule bike rack.

That’s the one I’ve got. Thumbs Up

Albeit with dedicated wiring. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Yes. The hitch is easy to remove and fits in boot under the cover by the spare tyre. The bumper mid-section cover takes seconds to remove/fit with a coin. Very pleased with it.

If you go with PF then choose the dedicated RR wiring kit because then the RR recognises when you are towing and all the electrics are aligned. MY23 D350 HSE

Well sad to report PF Jones are either shut or not interested, I’ve tried e mailing and calling, which is what they suggest after you done the on line process. So I’m now looking for an alternative or getting Hendy to fit a detachable one.

Very disappointing. They were fine when I used them a couple of months ago both by mail and phone. MY23 D350 HSE

I have just fitted a westfalia detachable towbar. It took around 2 hours on my drive. The video from Powerful was useful in removing the bumper, although it is pertinent to be much more gentle removing the plastic trims. The towbar kit is very easy to install. the only part I modified slightly was the plastic bracket which holds the centre of the rear bumper tow panel- I slightly trimmed the centre of it to give clearance fir the towbar When the towbar swan neck is removed the bumper cover fits with no trimming required. Use a torque wrench and specified torque settings as screwing into an alu chassis. The dedicated tow electrics work fine with no programming required.

I currently have a deployable tow bar on my MY13 which is going next week, My replacement MY18 (facelift) doesn't have a tow bar.

Is anyone able to tell me if the following will fit 2018. I have messaged the seller, however he stated it should, but i need to make sure. I have read on the forum that the frame is essential and don't buy if its not present as you can't buy them separately.

Has anybody tried one of the TowTrust detachable tow bars like this one?

I had a TowTrust on my D4 and was very pleased with the quality. This looks to be pretty good value?

Does anyone have a tow bar fitted (fixed or detachable) with an SVO rear bumper fitted?

If so did you have it fitted and by whom or self fit?? What brand/model is it please? Cheers

James

Hi Guys,

Just installed the Westfalia tow bar, nice easy job. However, I must be missing something as there is nowhere to now screw the 2x screws in the rear trim into. The instructions say to throw away the original threaded nut assembly, but nothing replaces this from what I can see. Any ideas?

Thanks
