I'm going to get this one MOT'd, then get some miles on it to relearn the gearbox adaptations and make sure everything else is working ok.

The caravan needs collecting from Preston once lockdown ends so once the gearbox has done a couple of hundred miles I'll go and fetch that when we can start moving again.

Once I know the car is going to behave itself then I will look to get it booked in and get the wheels done. I just want the standard Land Rover silver finish this time.

If you can get the bearing out of the pulley and measure it you should be able go get something.

If you have a look on the Bearing King website, you can put the internal and external diameter and the width into the search and it’ll show you the same sized bearings. Then just look for one that matches the specs

I did consider doing that but looking at the bearings they have a groove machined into the outer race that locks into the plastic.
Also looks like the centre race is different lengths on each one but oute race may be the same.

I was very lucky with the SC bearings. It was very easy to do and saved a fortune being able to do it.

The rest of the bits I’ve been waiting for arrived from Rob at Duckworths yesterday. I’ve fitted them this evening after work and am hopefully that tomorrow I can give the car a final once over and get it in for an MOT on Friday

If you tackle your tdv8 pulleys & don’t strip the front end off just fan shroud same as I did it. Get a proxxon rotary ratchet (Nino-Nino originally recommend it I think) I wish I’d got one before starting to strip, rather than mid way through. it’ll save you lots of frustration.

Neither had I, great addition to the toolbox. Made things much easier in the confined space. Great also in that it ratchets as you twist back & forth.

Now the mechanicals are sorted I can get on with doing the little cosmetic touches and giving the interior a good clean.

Congrats David, your work has paid dividends, the art of looking after your vehicle is not dead !!

I've actually enjoyed doing it to be honest.

It arrived on 4th January and I said I'd have it on the road for the start of Feb. Cold weather and delays getting parts have slowed that down but it's been something I've only been doing a bit of here and there so I can't complain.

Driving it for the first time today showed how much better the later bluetooth modules are then the early ones too.

Apparently, just because I've finished this one doesn't mean I've to get back on eBay tonight looking for another way to fill my time
