hi i have just been informed the tyre depth minimum is 3mm not the 4 mm i have seen posted, any thoughts

What's the context of the question?

Are you referring to MOT requirements or the dealer's "your tyres are worn and need replacing" to make them more coin? Cheers

In that case perhaps use the tread depth and remaining life/mileage as a bargaining point in negotiations with the dealer. May be worth a bob or two.
