Rear recovery point mussing

Whilst looking under the back of the car to work out what tow bar I have (not got the Swan neck part though) I noticed there isn’t a recovery point anywhere that I can see, coming from a Disco 3 where there is a very heavy duty one in the centre behind the electrics cover I can’t believe it won’t have one, could it have been removed when the tow bar was fitted, I was always told never to use the tow bar as a recovery point, if I do need to help anyone whats the option especially as I don’t yet have the detachable swan neck 2012 Range Rover Westminster 4.4 TDV8

The recovery point on the L322 is removed when the tow bar armature is fitted.

When fitting the Westfalia armature (LR Original) the recovery point is part of the armature. If yours is aftermarket it might not have one.

These are what is fitted if you don’t have a tow bar and are removed when you fit the tow bar.

Here is the genuine armature that you can see the recovery point on.

Here’s what you see from the rear of the car if it’s a genuine tow bar. You can see the recovery point above the drivers side exhaust tip. (Picture taken from google images).

As David says, the towing eye is on a bolt on part

You can see the bits above which are taken off and has the eye on it. If a genuine or Westfalen bar is fitted then the eye is welded to that near the O/S exhaust.

Thanks for all the replies it’s a tow trust bar the seller thinks he has found the detachable swan neck so that’s one plus, seems odd they omitted a towing eye 2012 Range Rover Westminster 4.4 TDV8

I have a TowTrust detachable towbar on my 2012 AB and I was offered the 'spare' recovery eyes when I had it fitted.

The irony is that I live fairly close to TowTrust but I ended up going to Rotherham to get mine fitted!

Dunc. The life you have is the only one you'll get; make the most of it.

I think the tow bar manufactures would say don't use it as a recovery point, purely to save themselves from claims.

I can't see why you can't use it for "normal" recovery as it is bolted to twice as many places as the factory point and is spreading the load much better, anything that damaged the tow bar whilst recovering would have ripped off the original part a long time before...!! Pete

^ this is a very valid point, and definitely applies to the original, not sure about the tow trust, but the westfalia is a chunky well bolted on piece of kit, it does also have an eye by the swan neck which I have always just used for the breakaway cables, but they also seem well attached and would take a shackle..... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
