Charge rates

At idle:

I know these don’t charge in a conventional way but that seems like it isn’t putting anything in at all. Thoughts anyone?

Car is a 2012 4.4.

Cheers

After a bit more reading it seems that it may not charge at all until warm. These vehicles baffle me!

Hmmm, no... That is not right sir... Should jump to 14.4ish volts within 10-20 seconds after starting...

The easy way to check is to let the car run for a couple of mins then switch all electrical draining stuff on and it should keep the charge rate north on 13v...

Thanks Craig. It’ll go to about 13.5 at around 2000rpm but it does fluctuate. I wonder wether the battery is on the way out.

When I was chasing an issue the other day I measured 14.4v at the large positive wire on the distribution board in the boot. 2012 TDV8 with the vehicle running (Only been started a minute before)

I would suggest a failing alternator sir... They are prone for it!
If you run it at 13.5v then put all the electrical bits on, what does it drop to?

Well I’ve just been out to it and it’s charging at 14.4 at idle, all electrics on. This thing is having the crack!
