I think that the shape of the L322 is the closest of any that take the design back to the Classic Range Rover look.

Couldn't agree more with verydisco... The L405 is a better car but the 4.4TDV8/5.0 L322 is a better Range Rover |

I just wish I could have the new L405 body on my L322 4.4TDV8, bit like a wolf in sheep's clothing!! |

If they did a “new” version of the 322 I would have one. Ie if the newest one wasnt now 8 years old. If I could get a 3 year old 322 then I would have one in a shot, and in preference to the 405.

Coming from a long line of RR's, both L322's and L405's all I can do is echo some of the comments above. The L405 is a far superior car in pretty much every measurable way, but it always feels like less of an event than the L322. True that event was usually a breakdown, but it was a nice place to wait for the recovery services! - Corris Grey 2017 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8

How would a newer body with a less powerful engine (TDV8 vs SDV8) be a wolf in sheep’s clothing? Or have you got some crazy power upgrades on yours? |

its funny, I’ve always liked the original versions of each of the marks. For example, the 2002-2005 L322, and the original look of the L405 before they changed to the angular headlights. The later styles of each being too fussy.

I looked at L405's but I kept seeing L322's and preferring the shape. So much so I just bought a 2012 Westminster with under 54k miles and I love it. The equivalent L405 would have been more than double the money which I couldn't justify as a second car as I wanted to keep my other car. The only criticism I could make of the L322 is the dated infotainment system but I knew that when I bought the car. I don't see the need for an electrically operated tailgate or electrically folded seats and I don't get touch screens which are becoming more and more prevalent in every new car. There is something about buttons you can push and dials you can turn. I think those screens will cause today's models to date faster and be less desirable as used buys in the future as they will give trouble. A good L322 is a superb value proposition if you get a clean one. |
