Thanks for replies. I have a few round rubber o-ring seals and I will try to fit it on the EGR inlet to seal it. Let's see if that helps...
Just one more thing, I took car for a Christmas tree shopping yesterday and I have noticed that after driving calmly for 40-50min in town traffic soot level didn't go up, actually it went from 16.3 down to 16.2 so I decided to go on motorway. After steady 5min drive at 65mph soot level vent to 17 and I decided to go back home. Weird. It shouldn't be other way round?

I have experienced similar issues to you (see this thread https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic54864.html)where my soot level would rise whilst on the motorway but would then drop when on A roads going slower and in stop/start traffic situations. After some great expense I may finally have resolved the issue but I am still testing so my original thread won't get updated until I am sure. Don't threat too much on the soot level for now, instead get the high pressure smoke test carried out otherwise you will be chasing your tail forever. Once you have the results from the test you'll have some idea what direction to go in. The DPF issue you describe is almost certainly induction leak related, especially as you have managed to complete a regen and got down to very low figures. 2011 TDV8 Vogue SE

When the engine's cold it doesn't tend to increase soot level very much at all, probably due to the EGR setting.

Hi mate have you resolved the issue yet?
I have a similar problem and same error code.

We started with a smoke test, didn't find anything. We replaced the temperature sensor of the EGR and the DPF pressure sensor because the car stored a problem there. Still same problem.

I can manually regenerate the DPF and then it goes to 0.5 or so so that's good, but the car won't regenerate itself.

I have the same recurrent fault you get (faultcode 40) and when I change the temperature sensor on the exhaust monifold the fault disappears. The only problem is I can't reach the sensor as there's no place there. So I wanne be 100% sure this sensor is the problem before I start. '17 Range Rover 5.0 Supercharged AB (Sold)

Hi, I am currently waiting for smoking machine. Bought one online as might have another use for it. My regen happens automatically but way too often. I have done 150miles trip last week and DPF regen happened 5 times. From approx. 19g back to 2. At some point when driving more aggressively clogging up process was faster than regeneration process. I will post more info when I get my pressure smoke leak detector. At this moment I am trying to calmly drive in town and do one regen trip regulary on M1 to keep car going. The temperature sensor won't change anything, do not bother as its is a pain to change it due to limited access.

Firstly it will need to be a HIGH pressure smoke testing machine otherwise it won’t show any small cracks.
Secondly it doesn’t sound like you have a problem : a reduction of 19 to 2 is normal working. The dpf is designed to fill at a rate of 1g every 8-10 miles.
Do you have any fault codes or yellow/red dpf lights? It sounds as if yours is working normally.

not 100% clear on your question however if you you are asking if the exhaust sensor code:
P040D-00 (2F) Exhaust gas recirculation temperature sensor A
will make a difference to your DPF function, the answer is most certainly not.

Just one fault code - temp sensor which supposed to not affect anything. My filling rate is more like 1g per 2-3miles on motorway. If fils really fast from 2-10g lets say, and bit slower from 10-19g. Full regen every 30miles on motorway. City driving is different, when car is cold and with steady driving soot level is bearly moving.

Dolphin's 100% correct

I've had first hand experience of a 'regular' smoke test not finding a pretty decent leak.

Needs to be a high pressure smoke test.

what's your 0 or near 0grams to 20 grams mile range?

Mines about 200-250 give or take (city driving)

Yes, it is about 30 miles. It fills really quick. The pressure smoke tester I am getting goes up to 13psi. You think that is not enough?

Adam I checked the one I bought which was not enough pressure and is says 10-13 psi.

So that's not enough.

Research the system boost pressure to get an idea (post here too pls)
Look in the workshop manual which I believe is in the Wiki

As a rough guide, I recon 1 regen per tank full to 3/4 full of mixed driving , or approx 300 miles.

Yes that's my question and thanks for the answer because it saves a lot of work.

My car too goes from 0 to 20 grams in +/- 30 miles.
I've had 2 mechanics perform a smoke test on the car but they don't find any leaks. Beginning to wonder if the pressure on their machines is high enough. What kind of pressure does a high pressure smoke tester give? The mechanic says his sits around 2 to 2.5 bar. '17 Range Rover 5.0 Supercharged AB (Sold)
